IT WAS VERY COLD SATURDAY.
COLDER SUNDAY.
9 BELOW LAST NIGHT.
SUNNY AND A LITTLE BETTER TODAY.
BUT COLD AGAIN TONIGHT AND TOMORROW.
GOOD THING...NO SNOW.
BUT A COUPLE INCHES POSSIBLE TOMORROW NIGHT.
AND WARMER WEATHER LATER IN WEEK .. 20'S AND EVEN 30'S.
WE SAW "THE REVENANT" SATURDAY. GOOD. VIOLENT. TOO LONG.
SOME GOOD BACKGROUND MUSIC AND SCENERY.
BECAUSE OF COLD WEATHER, ATTENDANCE WAS LESS THAN EXPECTED.
WEEKEND SPORTS:
CARDINAL GIRLS LOST FRIDAY NIGHT TO W. DUBUQUE, 51 TO 11 BUT
BOUNCED BACK WITH A NON-CONFERENCE WIN SATURDAY OVER CLINTON,
37 TO 32.
CARDINAL BOYS LOST A CLOSE ONE TO CLINTON SATURDAY NIGHT,
74 TO 70.
THE BOWLERS HOSTED MARION FRIDAY NIGHT. THE GIRLS LOST, BUT
THE BOYS DEFEATED MARION 3402-2736 WITH ISSAC ANDRESEN GETTING
HIS 2ND PERFECT 300 GAME IN A MONTH FOR THE CARDINALS.
YESTERDAY AFTERNOON, SOMETHING WENT WRONG WITH OUR CABLE-TV
SERVICE. MEDIACOM COMES THURSDAY TO LOOK FOR PROBLEM.
MY SON DAVE HAD AN INDOOR TV ANTENNA (GOT IT FOR $3 AT GOODWILL,
BUT ABOUT $25 NEW AT WAL MART) AND HE BROUGHT IT OVER AND HOOKED IT UP. IT IS 8 INCHES BY 8 INCHES, LOOKS LIKE A BOOK WITH AN 8 FOOT CABLE ATTACHED TO IT. WE JUST HAVE IT SITTING ON A CHAIR ARM. IN THE OLD DAYS, WITH A HOME ANTENNA, A GOOD SIGNAL GAVE A GOOD PICTURE ON SCREEN, BUT IF SIGNAL WAS NOT GOOD, ONE STILL GOT THE PICTURE, BUT SNOWY. WITH HD DIGITAL, IF THE SIGNAL IS THERE, THE PICTURE IS PERFECT. I COULDN'T BELIEVE IT. WE HAVE 9 CHANNELS TO WATCH.
IF THE ANTENNA WAS ON THE ROOF, WE WOULD PROBABLY GET 50. THE POINT IS, FOR THOSE THAT DON'T CARE FOR SPORTS, PERFECT HD TV IS AVAILABLE FREE. IF YOU BUY THE ANTENNA, AND HOOK IT UP...YOU FIRST
HAVE TO DO A SCAN WITH IT...WHICH LOADS THE GOOD CHANNELS INTO
YOUR SET. THIS WILL TAKE ABOUT 15 MINUTES. THEY ARE THEN THERE
TO WATCH ANYTIME AFTER AND NO MORE SCANNING.
DRESS FOR THE WEATHER AND CHECK BACK TOMORROW.
SORRY, NO BIG NEWS IN MAQUOKETA TODAY.
