THURSDAY (WITH RAIN) DAILY

JACKSON COUNTY CITIZENS WILL GO TO THE POLLS TUESDAY, AUGUST 7TH TO VOTE ON A $6.95 MILLION DOLLAR BOND ISSUE FOR A NEW JAIL.
AT THE JAIL COMMITTEE MEETING  LAST NIGHT, MEMBERS AND CITIZENS WERE GIVEN THE TWO ABOVE,     THE JAIL BUILDING WOULD FACE SOUTH, FACE THE STREET LEADING TO WAL MART.         WHEN YOU LEAVE WAL MART GOING OUT OF PARKING LOT NORTHERLY, YOU MAKE A SHARP TURN TO LEFT AND GO WEST TO CITY-ROUTE HIGHWAY 61.     YOU CAN SEE, NORTH-SOUTH 61 IS MARKED AT LEFT.
THE JAIL WILL NOT FACE 61.     THE HOSPITAL ON SOUTH SIDE OF WAL MART
ALSO WILL NOT FACE 61.     TOO BAD, BUT HARD TO FIND LARGE PLOTS OF LAND
ON MUCH TRAVELED  HIGHWAYS AND STREETS  IS NOT AVAILABLE.
THIS IS NOT KNEW TO MAQUOKETA.    MANY OF THE CITY'S BEST BUILDINGS ARE
NOT VISABLE BY VISITORS OR TOURISTS.....CITY HALL, LIBRARY, FIRE STATION,
CURRENT HOSPITAL, COLLEGE, HIGH SCHOOL, YMCA, PRAIRIE CREEK PARK, AND THE NEW VETERANS MEMORIAL.
NEVERTHELESS, I AM GOING TO VOTE YES.   WE NEED A NEW JAIL.

HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL LAST NIGHT, NORTH SCOTT 8, MAQUOKETA 0.
SOFTBALL, MARION 6, MAQUOKETA 2.
