LOCAL MAQUOKETA BUSINESSMAN JOHN DAGUE HAS BEEN NAMED THE GRAND MARSHALL FOR THE 2009 JACKSON COUNTY FAIR. DAGUE HAS BEEN A LONG
TIME ANNOUNCER FOR MANY FAIR EVENTS, INCLUDING THE QUEEN CONTEST AND TRUCK AND TRACTOR PULL. HE OWNS DAGUE FARM EQUIPMENT JUST SOUTH OF MAQUOKETA. THE PARADE WILL BE ON WEDNESDAY, JULY 29TH.

MAQUOKETA SCHOOL BOARD MEETING TONIGHT.
IT WILL ACTUALLY START AT 5:15 WITH A JOINT MEETING WITH DELWOOD SCHOOL BOARD.
THEN REGULAR MAQUOKETA MEETING TO FOLLOW.
DELWOOD HAS ELEMENTARY CLASSES ONLY IN DELMAR AND FOR MANY YEARS,
MIDDLE SCHOOL AND HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS ARE PART OF MAQUOKETA.

ABOUT 875 PEOPLE ATTENDED THE FIREMEN'S BREAKFAST IN MAQUOKETA
YESTERDAY. THAT IS COMPARABLE TO RECENT YEARS. GOOD BREAKFAST.

THE MISS IOWA PAGEANT IS THIS WEEK IN DAVENPORT. ONLY ENTRY
FROM THE KMAQ AREA IS FROM DEWITT......22 YEAR OLD SARAH HYTHECKER.

ON POLICE BLOTTER....KATIE HOWEL OF EAST MAPLE STREET REPORTED LAST NIGHT THAT SOMETIME DURING THE LAST FOUR DAYS, SOMEONE TOOK PRESCRIPTION DRUGS FROM HER VEHICLE.

FORMER MAQUOKETA RESIDENT OTTO SEEBERGER, AGE 85, DIED SATURDAY,
IN SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA. HE IS SURVIVED BY HIS WIFE PATRICIA,
A DAUGHTER AND A SON AND A BROTHER, ED, IN MAQUOKETA.
ARRANGEMENTS ARE PENDING.
