HOME PAGE, STARTING AT 7:20 WITH MATT CLARK CALLING THE ACTION.

THE MAQUOKETA CITY COUNCIL FIRST MEETING OF NEW  YEAR WAS
LAST NIGHT, WITH ALL 3 NEW COUNCILMEN PRESENT....CRAIG ORRIS,
CHUCK CURRENT AND KEVIN KUHLMAN.
DURING THE AUDIENCE PORTION OF THE MEETING, MCHS STUDENT
BAILY LENZ ASKED T HE COUNCIL MEMBERS TO SUPPORT HER EFFORTS
TO GET THE MINIMUM WAGE RAISED IN MAQUOKETA TO $8.25 AN
HOUR.   LENZ HAS BEEN CIRCULATING  PETITIONS AS PART OF A CLASS
PROJECT THROUGH CLINTON COMMUNITY COLLEGE AND PRESENTLY
HAS 100 SIGNATURES AND SHE ENCOURAGED ANYONE WHO WANTS TO
SIGN TO CONTACT HER AT 563-542-8993.
THE COUNCIL ACCEPTED A LOW BID OF $16,240 TO REPAIR THE ROOFTOP
FURNACE AND AIR-CONDITIONER AT THE YMCA.    THE MONEY WILL BE TAKEN FROM THE GENERAL FUND RESERVES BUT THE CITY COULD BE
REIMBURSED IF A GRANT IS RECEIVED BECAUSE OF DESIGN ISSUES.

A MAQUOKETA MAN, FORRET ROMAN, AGE 27, IS IN AN ILLINOIS JAIL ON $250,000 BOND FACING FELONY CHARGES OF BATTERY AND DELIVERY
OF A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE.    HE WAS ARRESTED DECEMBER 29TH AT A MOBILE HOME IN COLONA, ILLINOIS.
