WEDNESDAY DAILY

SHIRLEY BRANDON, FROM CHICAGO, ABOUT 10 YEARS AGO, MOVED TO MAQUOKETA AREA WHERE HER DAUGHTER WORKED.   HER HUSBAND WAS EMPLOYED WITH AMTRACK AND WHEN SHE DISCOVERED HOW MUCH LOWER THE COST OF LIVING IS HERE, TALKED HIM (NOW DECEASED) INTO MOVING HERE.
SHE HAD A DAUGHTER (NOW DECEASED) LIVING RIGHT NEXT TO CENTRAL PARK IN NEW YORK AND SHIRLEY ENJOYED VISITING HER FREQUENTLY OVER THE  YEARS.   ALSO HAS 3 SONS, ONE WORKING IN FLORIDA IN ONE OF THE POPULAR TOURIST PARKS AND SHE HAS ALSO VISITED  HIS FAMILY OFTEN.    SHE LIKES TO TRAVEL
TO SEE HER KIDS AND GRANDCHILDREN.      BUT NOW,  SEWING IS HER THING.  SHE IS 89, (WAS ON MAY 7TH)  LIVES ON THOMAS AVENUE IN HER COMFORTABLE RANCH HOUSE AND HAS BEEN MAKING MASKS FOR MONTHS.   HER GOAL WAS 1,000 AND NEW GOAL IS 1,500 WITH LESS THAN 200 TO GO TO MEET IT.    SHE DOESN'T CHARGE.   IF YOU WANT ONE, CALL HER AHEAD OF TIME, AT 652-9787.      YES, I COMPLAINED ABOUT HER CUBS MASK.

A GREAT FAMILY MOVIE STARTS FRIDAY AT THE 61 DRIVE-IN.   BRING THE  KIDS
AND GRAND KIDS.    BEFORE SHOWTIME AT 8:30 WILL WILL ENJOY FREE TRAIN
RIDES AROUND THE THEATRE.    A GREAT 2ND MOVIE TOO AT 10:30.

ONE OF THE BEST PLACES TO VIEW THE BEAUTIFUL MAQUOKETA RIVER IS
AT NORTH EDGE OF TOWN OFF ON THE SHORT STREET GOING PAST THE  LIGHT PLANT.   THERE IS WHERE THE BIKE AND WALKING TRAIL GOES OVER THE RIVER ON A NEW BRIDGE.    YOU LOOK DOWN ON THE RIVER WHILE SITTING ON ONE OF TWO
NICE BENCHES, INCLUDING THE ONE ABOVE.     TROUBLE IS!   WHAT  DO YOU
SEE FROM THE ABOVE BENCH IS WILD TREES BLOCKING THE RIVER.
TALK TO YOUR COUNCILMAN OR COUNCILWOMAN.

LOOKING FROM OUR DECK....THE CORN LOOKS GOOD IN MAQUOKETA AND AREA...
