TWO MEN ARE IN THE JACKSON COUNTY JAIL AND ARE ACCUSED OF DAMAGING STONES AT MT. HOPE CEMETERY IN MAQUOKETA, ALONG WITH THEFTS, INCLUDING THE THEFT OF 3 VEHICLES. CHARGED WERE RANDY WEIMERSKIRCH, 24 AND JOHN MILDER, AGE 23, BOTH OF 209 1/2 EAST MAPLE STREET IN MAQUOKETA.
THE 47 GRAVE STONE MARKERS COST FOR REPAIRS HAS BEEN ESTIMATED AT ANYWHERE FROM 30 TO 60 THOUSAND DOLLARS. THE TWO ALLEGEDLY STOLE 3 CARS THE NIGHT OF NOVEMBER 17TH AND LATER WALKED THROUGH MT. HOPE CEMETERY AND POLICE SAY THEY DAMAGED OR DESTROYED THE 47 STONES.
POLICE SAY THEY ALSO TOOK A CHAINSAW AND WEED EATER FROM 406 PERSHING ROAD THE NIGHT OF NOVEMBER 30TH AND SHORTLY AFTER MIDNIGHT, THEIR VEHICLE WAS STOPPED AND FOUND IN IT, 3 RIFLES TAKEN FROM FROM ANDREW AND 8 AIR NAIL GUNS, ALL VALUED AT $9,200. ALSO, MILDER IS ACCUSED OF CAUSING A POSSIBLE FRACTURE OF THE WRIST TO HIS SISTER, JAMIE WEIMERSKIRCH AT 5:50 P.M. NOVEMBER 30TH. BOTH ARE BEING HELD IN JAIL ON $50,000 CASH BOND.

THE CONCERT WILL FEATURE CURRENT HIGH SCHOOL SINGERS AND ALUMNI SINGERS. THE NEW AUTITORIUM SEATS OVER 800 AND THIS WILL BE THE FIRST PERFORMANCE IN IT.
THE NIGHT BEFORE, A DEDICATION WILL BE HELD FOR INVITED GUESTS.

IN MAGISTRATES COURT: NOAH MOSES, AGE 23, NOW OF CEDAR RAPIDS,
WAS CHARGED WITH SERIOUS ASSAULT AFTER HE HIT A WOMAN AT 12:45 SATURDAY MORING ON EAST PLESANT IN MAQUOKETA. HE ALSO KNOCKED OUT HER TOOTH. THIS WAS AFTER HE HAD TAKEN 3 BOTTLES OF BOOZE FROM DICK'S SUPERMARKET AND A BOTTLE OF ALCOHOL ALSO FROM J R'S WINE AND SPIRITS.
DURING HIS ARREST, MOSES DID NOT OBEY ORDERS AND WALKED AWAY FROM OFFICER DARREN RISINGER. HE WAS CAPTURED 2 BLOCKS AWAY.
ALSO, IN MAGISTRATES COURT, ANGELA PARKER, AGE 25, WAS CHARGED AFTER SHE HIT HER HUSBAND IN THE FACE AROUND 7:30 SUNDAY MORNING AT 612 WEST PLATT STREET IN MAQUOKETA.

THE FUNERAL SERVICE FOR DR. CLAY RISSER, 105, WILL BE THIS SATURDAY.

FRIDAY NIGHT, THE MAQUOKETA GIRLS DEFEATED GILBERTSVILLE DON BOSCO IN THE WAMAC CONFERENCE OPENER,HERE IN MAQUOKETA, 57 TO 2 6. THEY ARE NOW 1 AND 0 IN THE LEAGUE AND 2 AND 1 OVERALL.
THE BOYS ALSO FRIDAY NIGHT HERE, BEAT GILBERTSVILLE, 68 TO 27.
BUT THEN, SATURDAY NIGHT, AT DUBUQUE, THEY LOST TO DUBUQUE SENIOR, 75 TO 43. THEIR RECORD IS NOW 1 AND 0 IN THE WAMAC AND 1 AND 2 OVERALL.
THE PLAT UP AT MANCHESTER TOMORROW NIGHT.

THE MAQUOKETA WRESTLERS FINISHED IN 6TH PLACE IN A TOURNAMENT SATURDAY AT INDEPENDENCE. THE CARDINALS HAD NO CHAMPIONS. DARRON FULSANG AND JON POLL BOTH FINISHED SECOND. BOBBY KIRK, PICKED UP A 3RD AND JARRETT FRANZEN AND CASEY STUART EACH PLACED 4TH IN THE DAY INTO NIGHT TOURNAMENT.

MARTY BALLIU AT 110 WEST MONROE STREET , HAS ANOTHER GREAT CHRISTMAS DISPLAY, INCLUDING SANTA'S WORKSHOP WITH ANIMATED ELFS.

THE MAQUOKETA OPTIMIST MEMBERS ARE AGAIN SELLING TREES IN THE MCDONALDS LOT, AT $25 EACH.

TERM CITY FURNITURE AND APPLIANCE HAS MOVED FROM MAIN STREET TO A BIGGER LOCATION ON EAST PLATT, IN THE STORE THAT FOR MANY YEARS WAS HOME TO THE HARRIS PENROSE COMPANY. PART OF THEIR NEW LOCATION WAS HOME TO THE MAQUOKETA STATE BANK WHEN IT FIRST STARTED UP IN 1958.
THE STORE SELLS AND ALSO WILL RENT TO OWN.

SANTA COMES TO MAQUOKETA THURSDAY NIGHT. THERE WILL BE A 3-HOUR SPEICIAL EVENT DOWNTOWN THAT NIGHT, FROM 5 UNTIL 8, FEATURING HORSE AND WAGON RIDES, AND MORE.

A YEAR AGO TODAY WE HAD 5 INCHES OF NEW SNOW ON THE GROUND AND THAT WAS ALL THE SNOW WE GOT IN DECEMBER.

MANY ARE READY AND WAITING FOR SOME SNOW....IT WOULD BE GOOD FOR BUSINESS AND WOULD
GET MORE IN A CHRISTMAS MOOD FOR BUYING. HO HO HO...WE NEED SOME SNOW.
