THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE WEATHER MEN WERE WRONG.    NO SNOW LAST NIGHT.    JUST LIGHT SNOW TODAY.    NO 2 INCHES AS PREDICTED.    HIGH AGAIN TODAY IN THE MID 20'S.   NO MORE  SNOW NOW THROUGH THE NEW YEAR HOLIDAY.

THE MAQUOKETA WRESTLING CLUB IS HOSTING A TOURNAMENT AT THE HIGH SCHOOL IN MAQUOKETA TOMORROW FOR AROUND 300  WRESTLERS
IN GRADES 1-8.    ACTION STARTS AT 9 A.M.    SPECTATORS ARE WELCOME AND A CONCESSION STAND WILL BE OPEN.

THE JACKSON COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS THIS WEEK GOT AN
UPDATE FROM DAC, INC. ON THE ANDREW JACKSON CARE FACILITY THAT DAC IS RENTING FROM THE COUNTY.   THERE ARE NOW 10 RESIDENTS
AT THE FACILITY AND UP TO 10 MORE ARE SCHEDULED TO MOVE IN SOON.

THE MAQUOKETA CHRISTMAS DAY DINNER WAS SERVED TO 250,
INCLUDING CARRY-OUTS.   THE EAGLES AND THE EAST IRON HILL
CHURCH JOINTLY SPONSORED THE FREE COMMUNITY DINNER.

BENJAMIN DIMMICK, 85, OF CAMANCHE DIED TUESDAY.   HIS FUNERAL IS TOMORROW MORNING.   SURVIVORS INCLUDE A SON, PAUL DIMMICK
OF MAQUOKETA.

MEET THE SCHVEIGER BROTHERS....3 SONS OF JULIE SCHVEIGER OF WEST QUARRY STREET IN MAQUOKETA AND FRANK SCHVEIGER OF RURAL MAQUOKETA.    THEY ARE HERE ON MY DAILY REPORT BECAUSE ALL THREE
ARE BOY SCOUT EAGLE SCOUTS!    PRETTY UNUSUAL, DON'T YOU THINK?
LEFT TO RIGHT....CODY, KYLE AND CHRIS.  ALL 3 WERE HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS AND A GOOD TIME FOR ME TO GET A PHOTOGRAPH OF THEM.   ALL 3 GRADUATED FROM ANDREW HIGH SCHOOL.
CODY IS A SOPHOMORE AT IOWA STATE, AND WHEN HOME, WORKS PART
TIME AT THE FAREWAY STORE.   THIS PAST SUMMER, HE EARNED HIS
EAGLE AWARD FOR DOING A NATURE PLAY SCAPE AT THE HURSTVILLE
INTERPRETIVE CENTER.   
KYLE GRADUATED FROM CORNELL COLLEGE IN MT. VERNON AND GOT
HIS MA DEGREE  FROM NORWICH COLLEGE IN VERMONT.   HE IS WORKING
NOW AT WIS INTERNATIONAL IN CEDAR RAPIDS.     HE EARNED HIS  EAGLE
AWARD IN FOR A LANDSCAPE AT THE JACKSON COUNTY HUMANE SOCIETY SHELTER NORTHEAST OF MAQUOKETA.
CHRIS GRADUATED FROM LUTHER COLLEGE AND NOW IS A DROP-OUT
PREVENTION SPECIALIST FOR THE PRESTON HIGH SCHOOL AND ALSO
IS THE K-6 P-E INSTRUCTOR FOR THE DISTRICT.      HE ALSO EARNED HIS EAGLE AWARD AT THE HUMANE SOCIETY SHELTER FOR BUILDING A 12 BY 16 FOOT BUILDING TO KEEP ANIMAL FOOD AND MEDICAL SUPPLIES.   HE SAID HIS DAD FRANK HELPED HIM A LOT WITH THAT PROJECT.
THEY ARE NO LONGER BOY SCOUTS, BUT DO OCCASSIONALLY HELP SCOUTS IN CLASSES AND PROJECTS.
THEY HAVE NO OTHER BROTHERS OR A SISTER AND ALL THREE ARE
STILL ELIGIBLE BACHELORS.
AMERICAN NEEDS MORE BOY SCOUTS (AND GIRL SCOUTS) AND EAGLE
SCOUTS!    GOOD GOING.... CODY, KYLE AND CHRIS.
