THE FARM SHOW HAS GONE WELL SO FAR. DOWN FROM LAST YEARS, AS EXPECTED, BECAUSE OF THE ROADS. BUT, WE ARE SURE THOSE WHO COULD NOT MAKE IT TODAY WILL COME TOMORROW.

THE AWARDS WERE PRESENTED BY WARREN JOHNSON, DIRECTOR OF THE LIMESTONE BLUFF RC & D OFFICE, AMBER MATHIESSEN, COUNTY EXTENSION DIRECTOR AND BANKER BRIAN SCHWAGER.
THE FARMER OF THE YEAR AWARD WENT TO BLAINE AND MARY BOCK, WHO HAVE HAD A 200 ACRE FARM JUST WEST OF MAQUOKETA FOR OVER 40 YEARS. BLAINE
HAS BEEN A FARM BUREAU MEMBER FOR OVER 30 YEARS AND BOTH HAVE BEEN
ACTIVE IN COUNTY AG RELATED ISSUES AND ORGANIZATIONS. TWO FINE CITIZENS AND WELL DESERVING OF THE AWARD. THE AG BUSINESS-INDUSTRY AWARD WENT TO PAUL TABOR OF DUBUQUE, OWNER OF TABOR HOME WINERY AT RURAL BALDWIN AND STATEWIDE AUTHORITY ON WINE MAKING. HE STARTED HIS WINERY ABOUT 12 YEARS AGO. AND THE AG PUBLIC-SERVICE AWARD WENT
TO JEANETTE KRUSE, OF RURAL PRESTON, WHO HAS WORKED FOR THE JACKSON COUNTY EXTENSION OFFICE FOR 28 YEARS. ALL THREE RECEIVED A PLAQUE.
THE 2ND AND FINAL DAY OF THE KMAQ FARM AND HOME SHOW BEGINS AT 10:30 TOMORROW (FRI) MORNING. TOMORROW IS PORK DAY.
