THE JACKSON COUNTY FAIR ENDED UP ITS 5-DAY RUN WITH MORE THAN 1,500 OVER LAST YEAR.

THE TRIVIA CONTEST WINNER YESTERDAY AT THE FAIR WAS DUANE WESTPHAL OF MAQUOKETA.

THE WINNER OF THE FAIRBOARD'S QUILT DRAWING WAS LUCRECA SCHOENHUR OF MAQUOKETA.

THE TWO VEHICLE ACCIDENT FRIDAY DURING RAGBRAI IN MAQUOKETA....AT THE INTERSECTION OF WEST PLATT AND MCKINSEY DRIVE INVOLVED A DRIVER FROM KALONA AND THE OTHER FROM TWIN LAKES, WISCONSIN. THE KALONA DRIVER WAS CHARGED WITH OWI AND THE WISCONSIN DRIVER WITH STOP SIGN VIOLATION. FOUR PEOPLE WERE TAKEN INJURED, ALL FROM THE WISCONSIN 2003 FORD EXPLORER, WHICH RECEIVED $8,000 IN DAMAGES. THE PICKUP TRUCK HAD $4,000 IN DAMAGES.

COURT NEWS: JEFFREY HARKIN, AGE 34, OF MAQUOKETA WAS ARRESTED EARLY SATURDAY MORNING FOR OWI.
DAVID WILLGUS, AGE 46, OF MAQUOKETA, WAS CHARGED WITH PUBLIC INTOXICATION DURING THE RAGBRAI CELEBRATION DOWNTOWN.

SERVICES ARE PENDING AT CARSON AND SON FUNERAL HOME IN MAQUOKETA FOR SALLY LOU RALFS, AGE 73, FORMERLY OF MAQUOKETA AND FOR LAURA L. IRWIN, AGE 51, OF MAQUOKETA.

HAD LUNCH TODAY AT THE NEW TACO JOHNS WITH BOB OSTERHAUS. HE REPORTS HIS TRIP TO THE DEMOCRATIC CONVENTION WAS A GOOD ONE....HE AND ANN ENJOYED IT....AND WERE HOME FRIDAY IN TIME TO HOST SOME RAGBRAI BIKERS ON THEIR LAWN.

DURING RAGBRAI....BUSY ALL NIGHT LONG. THEY SAID THAT BIKERS WERE STILL BIKING INTO MAQUOKETA AFTER MIDNIGHT.
