THURSDAY DAILY


TOMORROW IS VETERANS DAY.    MAQUOKETA'S VETERANS DAY PROGRAM
WILL START AT 8:45 A.M. AT THE MIDDLE SCHOOL.    TOM WATTERS OF
FULTON, IOWA AND COMMANDER OF THE IOWA (VFW) VETERANS OF FOREIGN WARS WILL BE THE GUEST SPEAKER.    EVERYONE WELCOME.
THE JACKSON COUNTY VETERANS MEMORIAL IS LOOKING BETTER EVERY
WEEK....LOCATED BETWEEN AND WEST OF BOTH CEMETERIES.


A NEW BUSINESS HAS OPENED IN DELMAR, ON MAIN STREET.   OWNERS
ARE LAURA AND STEVE ANDERSON.    LAURA GRADUATED FROM MAQUOKETA HIGH SCHOOL, AND HER PARENTS.... DALE AND THE LATE
RENE KENNICKER OF DELMAR.     STEVE GRADUATED FROM ELWOOD HIGH
SCHOOL AND HIS PARENTS  ARE ROGER AND ELAINE "MIKKI" ANDERSON OF
DELMAR.     THEY HAVE FOUR CHILDREN, THREE STILL AT HOME.
LAURA IS SHOWN WITH THE LAUNDRY LINE.    THEY HANDLE SPEED QUEEN,
LG AND  CROSLEY APPLIANCES.      IN ADDITION TO LAUNDY, ALL KITCHEN
APPLIANCES.    THEY TAKE IN TRADES AND THEREFORE HAVE USED
APPLIANCES.    THEY OFFER SERVICE OF COURSE.    STEVE HAS 15 YEARS
EXPERIENCE AS AN APPLIANCE REPAIRMAN.
DR APPLIANCE IS OPEN MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY, 8 AM UNTIL 4 PM AND
SATURDAYS FROM 8 AM UNTIL 2 P.M.   THEIR PHONE NUMBER IS 563-599-0416.


WORK CONTINUED THIS AFTERNOON AT THE MAIN AND MAPLE STREETS
INTERSECTION AND TO THE NORTH OF IT.
BRICK PAVERS WAITING TO BE PUT DOWN IN THE FINAL BLOCK....SEE THE
PALLETS OF THEM.    LAST NIGHT, THEY DID PAVING WORK AFTER DARK
WITH PORTABLE LIGHTS.     THE PICKUP (BIG TRAILER BEHIND) IS OWNED
BY LARRY McDEVITT AND HE IS CLOSE TO FINISHING THE STONE WORK ON THE FOUR PLANTERS AT THE INTERSECTION OF MAIN AND PLEASANT.
THERE ARE 6 PLANTERS.   THE OTHER TWO WERE FINISHED MONTHS AGO
AND ARE AT THE MAIN AND QUARRY INTERSECTION.     THEY NOW NEED TO BE FILLED WITH ROCK AND BLACK DIRT.    HAVE NOT HEARD IF SOMETHING
WILL BE PLANTED IN EACH SOON, OR  NOT  UNTIL SPRING.
YOU SEE THESE...AROUND 20...ABOUT AND DOWN ALONG THE NEW
STREETS.     THE NEW LIGHT POLES GO ON THOSE.   THEY WILL BE GOING UP SOON AND WILL REALLY ADD MORE GOOD LOOKS TO DOWNTOWN.
JUST A LITTLE MORE TIME AND THE PLANTERS WILL BE DONE.

THE MIDLAND (WYOMING) EAGLES, EIGHT-PLAYER FOOTBALL TEAM PLAYED
THIS MORNING IN THE QUARTER FINALS AT THE UNI DOME IN CEDAR FALLS.
GAME BROADCAST ON KMAQ.    THEIR QUARTER-BACK WHO WAS
INJURED IN A GAME LAST WEEK, WAS NOT ABLE TO PLAY.     THE EAGLES
LOST 72 TO 0.

THE MAQUOKETA OPTIMIST CLUB FLAGS (AROUND 600) ARE BEING PUT OUT
THIS AFTERNOON.
