THE JACKSON COUNTY 3 SUPERVISORS ARE LEANING TOWARD
APPOINTING A NEW COUNTY ATTORNEY WHO HAS RESIGNED TO
GO INTO PRIVATE BUSINESS, INSTEAD OF CALLING A SPECIAL ELECTION.    THE CURRENT ASSISTANT COUNTY ATTORNEY, SARA DAVENPORT HAS EXPRESSED INTEREST IN BEING APPOINTED TO THE POSITION.

GOV. TERRY BRANSTAD AND LT. GOV. KIM REYNOLDS WILL BE IN
MAQUOKETA NEXT WEEK, FRIDAY AUGUST 24, FOR AN EDUCATIONAL
FORUM.    THEY WILL TALK ABOUT THE THE GOVERNOR'S ANTI-BULLY
PROGRAM.   HE WILL BE AT THE HIGH SCHOOL FROM 9:30 A.M. UNTIL
10:30 A.M.

A MAQUOKETA POLICE OFFICER,  SGT. KENNY SPARKS, HAS BEEN PLACED ON ADMINISTRATIVE LEAVE PENDING AN INVESTIGATION.
CHEIF BRAD KORANDA SAID HE HOPED THE  INVESTIGATION WOULD BE
COMPLETED BY THURSDAY.   HE DECLINED TO ELABORATE BUT SAID
THE INVESTIGATION IS NOT CRIMINAL, BUT IS ON POLICY.

THE MAQUOKETA FAMILY CLINIC ON NORTH ARCADE STREET REPORTED TODAY THAT SOMEONE STOLE A BLANK PRESCRIPTION FORM AND USED
IT TO FORGE A PRESCRIPTION IN DUBUQUE.

KMAQ TRAVEL WILL AGAIN TAKE A BUS TO BRANSON THIS CHRISTMAS.
