FRIDAY DAILY REPORT

SUNNY AND WINDY AGAIN TODAY.
THE WEEKEND (SAT & SUN)...LESS WIND, MID 50'S EACH DAY.

THE MAQUOKETA FIRE DEPARTMENT HAS HOSTED THE STATE FIREMEN'S CONVENTION TWICE, IN 1987 AND IN 2008.    THEY ARE NOW CONSIDERING
APPLYING FOR IT AGAIN IN 2018.   FIRE CHIEF MARK BECK  (IN FAVOR OF THE IDEA) AND FIREMEN WILL GUAGE INTEREST FROM GROUPS AND CITIZENS
AND IF THERE IS STRONG INTEREST, THEY WOULD NEED TO PUT IN
THE APPLICATION IN JANUARY AND THEN WAIT UNTIL SEPTEMBER OF 2016 TO SEE WHICH CITY WILL BE AWARDED THE 2018 CONVENTION.

JACKSON COUNTY HAS A NEW GEOGRAPHIC INFORMATION SYSTEM
(G.I.S.) COORDINATOR AND SHE BEGAN WORK THIS PAST MONDAY.
HEATHER SKIDMORE WILL WORK UNDER THE DIRECTION OF THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS AND FOR NOW, HAS A DESK IN THE ASSESSOR'S OFFICE.
SHE  HAS 8 YEARS EXPERIENCE IN THE G.I.S. FIELD.    HER HUSBAND
WORKS AT THE ROCK ISLAND ARSENAL AND WITH 2 YOUNG CHILDREN, THEY
LIVE IN WHEATLAND BUT HOPE TO PURCHASE HOME IN MAQUOKETA.

THE OHNWARD FINE ARTS CENTER IN MAQUOKETA AND THE LITTLE THEATRE GROUP, PEACE PIPE PLAYERS, WILL HOLD AUDITIONS DECEMBER 6TH AND 8TH FOR THE  UPCOMING PRODUCTION OF "CABERET".     IT WILL
BE DIRECTED BY JOHN AND JANET BURROW OF MAQUOKETA AND
PRESENTED NEXT FEBRUARY.    CALL 652-9815 WITH QUESTIONS.

HELEN SNELL IS THE NEWEST MEMBER OF THE MAQUOKETA LIBRARY BOARD, REPLACING JEANNIE JORGENSEN.    IT IS A SIX YEAR TERM AND THERE ARE 9 MEMBERS ON THE BOARD.   

MAQUOKETA NATIVE DIXIE CLASEN OF LAMOTTE HAS SOLD HER CIRCLE  C SALOON IN LAMOTTE TO MARK AND MELISSA ALTHAUS, OF LAMOTTE.  THE NEW OWNERS HAVE RENAMED THE BUSINESS, MEL'S CIRCLE C.
