YOU FOLKS DOWN SOUTH....MISSING OUR WIND AND 40 DEGREE WEATHER.

GOLFERS WERE STILL OUT THIS WEEK. IN FACT, TUESDAY, DUB ROMER (JUST CELEBRTED HIS 85TH) SHOT A 45, BEATING HIS GOLFING BUDDIES, MORRIE MORRIS AND JERRY RASMUSSEN.

SCROOGE HAS ALREADY VISITED MAQUOKETA. BRUCE RUCHOSKE AT 301 WEST WASHINGTON STREET IN MAQUOKETA, SAID SOMEONE TOOK ORNAMENTS FROM HIS YARD AND HE FOUND THEM LATER, BROKEN AND IN A HEAP ON PERSHING ROAD.

THE MAQUOKETA FIREMEN HAD TWO THANKSGIVING FIRES...A MINOR CHIMNEY FIRE AT THE MIKE CHAPLIN RESIDENCE ON WEST PLEASANT STREET...AROUND 5:30 P.M.
AND A BARN FIRE AT 7 P.M. NEAR BALDWIN. THEY WERE AT THE SCENE ABOUT 2 HOURS FIGHTING IT.

150 PEOPLE WERE SERVED AT THE COMMUNITY THANKSGIVING SERVICE IN MAQUOKETA AT THE SENIOR CENTER. THE MINISTERIAL ASSOCIATION COORDINATED THE EVENT AND TOM AND LUANN CAHILL CHAIRED THE COMMITTEE THAT ORGANIZED IT.

SMALL SCHOOL DISTRICTS ARE HAVING PROBLEMS WITH DECLINING ENROLLMENT.
ANDREW MAY END UP WITH A DEFICIT OF MORE THAN $200,000 THIS SCHOOL YEAR.

DARLENE KIRCHOFF HAS A GREAT CHRISTMAS DISPLAY AT HER HOME ON JUDSON STREET, JUST EAST OF THE MIDDLE SCHOOL.

THE MAQUOKETA GIRLS, WHO LOST THEIR FIRST BASKETBALL GAME EARLIER THIS WEEK, PLAY NORTHEAST TONIGHT AT GOOSE LAKE.
