A COLD AND WET DAY TODAY...
BUT BETTER WEATHER TOMORROW AND EASTER SUNDAY!

THE EASTER EGG HUNT SHOULD GO ON TOMORROW MORNING AND THE
FIRST STOCK CAR RACES OF THE SEASON SHOULD GO TOMORROW NIGHT.

THE CITY COUNCIL HAS APPROVED A 2.25 PERCENT PAY RAISE, STARTING
IN JULY, FOR THE MAQUOKETA STREET DEPARTMENT.

THE SCHOOL BOARD THIS WEEK EXPELLED A HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT FOR
THE REST OF THE CURRENT SCHOOL YEAR. THE NAME AND REASON NOT
GIVEN OUT. BY LAW, THE SCHOOL IS REQUIRED TO PROVIDE TUTORING FOR
THE REST OF THE YEAR.

THE MAQUOKETA FFA 1 SQUAD BEAT 14 TEAMS FROM AROUND IOWA TO WIN THE
16TH ANNUAL IOWA ENVIROTHON TITLE AT SPRINGBROOK STATE PARK
IN GUTHRIE CENTER. THE ENVIROTHON IS A PROGRAM FOR IOWA HIGH
SCHOOL STUDENTS WHO WANT TO LEARN MORE ABOUT THE PLANET'S NATURAL
RESOURCES AND CURRENT ENVIRONMENTAL CHALLENGES. TEAMS ARE
TESTED IN FIVE CATEGORIES. THE MAQUOKETA FFA TEAM WILL RECEIVE
AN EXPENSE-PAID TRIP TO THE NATIONAL COMPETITION IN JULY IN CANADA.
THE TEAM MEMBERS ARE JENNY NABB, MATT LYON, JASON SCHUSTER, JOSH SHUSTER, ASHLEY QUINLAN AND KRISTIN REUTER.

WELL KNOWN HOMETOWN ARTIST ROSE FRANTZEN OF MAQUOKETA IS FEATURED IN THE MAY/JUNE ISSUE OF IOWA'S BEST MAGAZINE, THE IOWAN.

IN LOCAL GOLF, MCHS FRESHMAN DAVISON BOHACH GOT A HOLE-IN-ONE
ON HOLE 9 AT PRAIRIE CREEK GOLF COURSE HERE IN MAQUOKETA YESTERDAY.
IT WAS WITNESSED BY TEAM MATES LANDON AUNAN, JACOB LANGENBERG,
JORDON ROCKWELL AND DAVISON'S FATHER, KEVIN BOHACH. IT WAS ONLY
THE 2ND DAY HE HAD USED HIS NEW HYBRID CLUB. MOST GOLFERS PLAY A LIFETIME AND NEVER GOT THE ACE.
