THURSDAY, SUNNY AND 78
FRIDAY, SUNNY AND 77
SATURDAY, SUNNY AND 76
NO RAIN ALL WEEK..GOOD CORN PICKING WEATHER TOO.

THE FRIDAY STORMS KNOCKED DOWN 3 TREES THAT BLOCKED ROADS IN JACKSON COUNTY FOR A SHORT TIME.     ONE TREE DOWN ON HIGHWAY 62 OVER A ELECTRIC LINE CAUSED KMAQ TO BE OFF-THE-AIR FOR
A COUPLE HOURS LATE FRIDAY AFTERNOON.
EARLIER, HEAVY RAIN FRIDAY AFTERNOON WAS  RESPONSIBLE FOR A
2-CAR ACCIDENT IN MAQUOKETA, INVESTIGATED BY MAQUOKETA POLICE
OFFICER JASON THOMSON AND INVOLVED MARILYN WILLIAMS, AGE 82,
OF MAQUOKETA AND KENNETH BAILEY, AGE 52, OF DELMAR.    WILLIAMS
WAS SOUTHBOUND ON SOUTH MAIN WHEN SHE DROVE  INTO THE OTHER
LANE DUE TO THE HEAVY RAIN....AND BAILEY WAS NORTHBOUND.    THE DRIVER'S SIDE MIRROR OF WILLIAMS VEHICLE HIT BAILEY'S.   NO INJURIES,
LITTLE DAMAGE AND NO CHARGES FILED.

THE JACKSON COUNTY DEMOCRATS WILL HAVE THEIR 4TH ANNUAL
"HALL OF FAME" DINNER THIS SUNDAY AT THE KALMES RESTAURANT
IN ST. DONATUS, BEGINNING AT 4:30.   CHUCK WOLF OF MAQUOKETA WILL BE HONORED FOR HIS MANY HOURS OF  VOLUNTEER WORK FOR THE PARTY
AND FORMER COUNTY TREASURER AL TEBBE  WILL ALSO BE INDUCTED
INTO THE HALL POSTHUMOUSLY FOR HIS LONG TIME SERVICE AS A
COUNTY DEMOCRAT OFFICE HOLDER.

ITS HOMECOMING WEEK AND DOWNTOWN WINDOW PAINTING HAS
BEGUN.     THE HOMECOMING KING WILL BE KYLE SCHIFFER AND
QUEEN WILL BE KAILEY HAZER.

IN BUSINESS NEWS, JACKSON COUNTY HAS A REVOLVING LOAN FUND
FOR BUSINESS PLACES WISHING TO EXPAND AND HIRE  MORE
EMPLOYEES.    LAST WEEK, GREG AND CAROLYN MARTIN OF MAQUOKETA,
HAD A LOAN OF $160,000 APPROVED BY THE COUNTY BOARD OF
SUPERVISORS TO PURCHASE AND IMPROVE THE KNIGHTS OF PYTHIAS
BUILDING RIGHT NEXT TO THE GILMORE DRY CLEANING BUILDING
THE MARTINS OWN AND  OPERATE.    THEY WILL USE THE LOW-INTEREST LOAN  TO PAY OFF AN EXISTING LOAN, AND BUY AND RENOVATE THE KP BUILDING AND USE THE BUILDING FOR NEW INDUSTRIAL WASHERS AND DRYERS SO THEY CAN DO THAT HEAVIER CLEANING WORK THAT THEY CAN NOT DO IN THEIR EXISTING BUILDING.    THEY WILL BE ABLE TO CLEAN
UNIFORMS, FLOOR MATS, BAR TOWELS AND MORE.   EXTRA EMPLOYEES WILL BE NEEDED.  THE KP BUILDING IS WHERE MANY OF YOU OVER THE YEARS ATTENDED AN ANNUAL TUESDAY NIGHT PANCAKE SUPPER.     IT DID NOT HAVE A PROPERTY TAX BILL, AS IT WAS NON-PROFIT.   IT BUILDING NOW GOES ON THE TAX ROLLS OF JACKSON COUNTY.    IN SUMMARY, A GOOD THING FOR THE MARTINS, GOOD THING FOR THE PYTHIANS AND A GOOD THING FOR MAQUOKETA AND JACKSON COUNTY.     I HAVE NOT HEARD WHERE THE PYTHIANS WILL NOW MEET.    I  ASSUME THEY STILL HAVE OFFICERS AND MEMBERS.

HAVE A GOOD WEEK.
