WE MADE A ONE-DAY TRIP TO MY HOMETOWN OF HORICON, WISCONSIN SUNDAY.   IOWA FALL COLORS JUST GETTING STARTED AND WISCONSIN
LEAF COLORS ARE A LITTLE FARTHER  ALONG.    IN  WEEK TO 10 DAYS, THEY
WILL REALLY BE BEAUTIFUL.
VISITED THE NEW (COUPLE YEARS OLD) HORICON MARSH EDUCATION
AND VISITOR CENTER.
THIS YEAR, AROUND 25 DIORAMAS WERE PLACED IN THE BASEMENT
AND SOME OUTSIDE.    WHEN ONE DRIVES INTO THE LARGE PARKING
LOT (NEARLY FULL YESTERDAY AFTERNOON) THE FIRST THING VISABLE
IS THE MAMMOTH, AND THE INDIAN HUNTING IT.    IT TOOK 2 YEARS FOR THE ARTIST TO COMPLETE THE MAMMOTH AND INDIAN, WELDING TOGETHER THOUSANDS OF CONCRETE REINFORCMENT RODS.

IT IS A 3-HOUR DRIVE FROM MAQUOKETA.     PUT IT ON YOUR LIST
TO SEE.....A $6 MILLION CENTER AT THE EDGE OF THE 25,000 ACRE WILDLIFE PRESERVE.    IN OCTOBER, IT IS A STOPPING PLACE FOR THOUSANDS OF GEESE HEADING SOUTH.    THERE...MY BROTHER (INSTRUMENTAL IN GETTING THE CENTER) WILL APPRECIATE MENTIONING IT HERE.

FOR THE MAQUOKETA SCHOOL DISTRICT, EARLY-OUT THIS WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY AND NO SCHOOL FRIDAY.    TEACHER CONFERENCES.

SCHOOL BOARD MEETING TONIGHT.

HAVE A GOOD WEEK.
