A TWO-VEHICLE ACCIDENT AT 10 A.M. THIS MORNING JUST NORTH OF
MAQUOKETA ON OLD HIGHWAY 61, AT INTERSECTION WITH HURSTVILLE
ROAD, RESULTED IN ONE FATALITY. THE IOWA STATE PATROL INVESTIGATED
AND HAS NOT RELEASED THE INFORMATION ON THE ACCIDENT. THE DRIVER
OF A TRUCK IS DEAD. I DO NOT BELIEVE HE IS FROM THIS AREA. THE DRIVER OF THE OTHER VEHICLE WAS AIRLIFTED TO IOWA CITY. AGAIN, I HAVE HEARD
NO LOCAL NAME. APPARENTLY EACH DRIVER WAS ALONE. WE WILL GET DETAILS TOMORROW.

MAQUOKETA POLICE CHEIF SAID STEEL WAS TAKEN FROM PMW OVERNIGHT AND A STOLEN VEHICLE WAS FOUND LOADED WITH THE STEEL BEHIND CASEYS ON EAST PLATT STREET AT 4:14 A.M. TODAY. CHIEF KORANDA SAID THEY DON'T KNOW WHO WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE. ALL THE STEEL WAS RECOVERED.
THE DEPARTMENT'S CANINE TRACKED THE PATH FROM PMW TO WHERE THE 1999 IZUSU VEHICLE WAS FOUND NEAR CASEYS.
HAVE A GOOD NIGHT AND FRIDAY.
