THE MAQUOKETA CITY COUNCIL WILL PAY $44,212 TO THE DECKER HOTEL
FOR REPAIRS TO THE ELEVATOR.   WHEN THE DECKER WAS UP FOR SALE,
THE COUNCIL VOTED TO HELP WITH THE COST OF ELEVATOR REPAIRS.
THE MONEY WAS OFFERED AS AN INCENTIVE TO KEEP THE DECKER AND
RETAURANT OPEN, INSTEAD OF BEING USED FOR OTHER PURPOSES,
SUCH AS APARTMENTS.    THE ELEVATOR IS NOW WORKING AND WORKS AND LOOKS LIKE A NEW ONE.   THE MONEY WILL COME FROM A $192,000
ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT CITY  REVOLVING LOAN FUND.

A COMMUNITY SURVEY IS  BEING CONDUCTED ONLINE TO DETERMINE
IF THERE IS INTEREST IN AN OUTDOOR POOL IN MAQUOKETA.   THE SURVEY IS BEING CONDUCTED JOINTLY BY THE CITY COUNCIL AND THE YMCA.

THE MAQUOKETA POLICE CHARGED A GAIL STANDLEY, AGE 40, OF
MAQUOKETA WITH  DRUNK DRIVING, STRIKING AN UNATTENDED VEHICLE AND NO DRIVERS LICENSE FOLLOWING AN ACCIDENT AT 1:36 A.M. TUESDAY ON SOUTH SECOND STREET.    SHE HIT A PARKED VEHICLE OWNED BY
TOM FELLER OF MAQUOKETA.     DAMAGE TO THE STANDLEY VEHICLE,
$6,000 AND TO FELLER'S CAR, $2,000.
