JACKSON COUNTY PURCHASED THE PENROSE HOUSE WEST OF THE LAW CENTER FOR AROUND $200,000, FOR ADDITIONAL COUNTY OFFICES.    THE ESTIMATE FOR RENOVATING THE HOUSE AND BUILDING AN ADDITION TO THE PENROSE HOUSE IS ABOUT $391,000.......TO RENOVATE THE HOUSE, $166,080 AND TO BUILD THE ADDITION, $225,000.    THE ABOVE FIGURES DO NOT INCLUDE THE ENGINEERING COSTS.    BIDS ARE DUE DO AT NOON NEXT MONDAY.   I GUESS ONE COULD SAY, THE ENTIRE COST IS GOING TO BE
MORE THAN ANTICIPATED.    I WILL KEEP YOU POSTED.

THE MAQUOKETA CITY COUNCIL PASSED ALL THREE READINGS OF AN
ORDINANCE LAST NIGHT WHICH WILL ALLOW  KWIK STAR TO
BUILD A NEW CONVENIENCE STORE, GAS STATION AND CAR WASH AT THE CORNER OF WEST PLATT STREET AND WESTERN AVENUE, ACROSS THE
STREET FROM McDONALDS.

IN SPORTS:   THE MAQUOKETA BOYS HIGH SCHOOL SOCCER TEAM
DEFEATED NORTHEAST LAST NIGHT 6 TO 1 AT GOOSE LAKE.
IN GIRL'S HIGH SCHOOL TRACK AT DEWITT LAST NIGHT, MAQUOKETA
FINISHED 8TH.    THE BOYS DID NOT FINISH IN THE TOP 4.    I DID NOT
FIND OUT WHAT PLACE THEY CAME IN.
IN BOY'S GOLF YESTERDAY AT TIMBERLINE COURSE UP BY DUBUQUE,
MAQUOKETA FINISHED 4TH.    TY THEDE HAD THE BEST CARDINAL
SCORE, AN 83.

JACKSON COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY.     BUT, IT HAS NO JACKSON COUNTY HISTORY WITH IT AND THE SOCIETY ALREADY HAS ONE JUST LIKE IT......SO, THIS ONE IS FOR SALE.     STOP IN, LOOK IT OVER AT THE  CLINTON ENGINES MUSEUM AND MAKE AN OFFER.
THIS IS THE NEW HISTORICAL SOCIETY FARM MACHINERY SHED THAT IS
BEING BUILDT BEHIND THE CLINTON ENGINES MUSEUM.    A FUND DRIVE
IS UNDERWAY TO RAISE THE BALANCE TO PAY FOR IT.    YOUR
