WE WENT TO THE SPAGETTI
SUPPER LAST NIGHT AT THE
JACKSON COUNTY SENIOR
CENTER. THIS WAS OUR HOST,
AMY MANNING, WHO IS THE
MANAGER THERE AND HAS BEEN
FOR 3 YEARS. THEY HAVE THE SPECIAL SUPPER ONCE A MONTH AND THERE WERE 50 LAST NIGHT. GOOD FOOD AND THE
SUGGESTED MINIMUM WAS
ABOUT $2.75 A PERSON. AMY SAYS THEY SERVE BREAKFAST
MONDAY THRU FRIDAY FROM
7:30 TO 9:30 AM. A GOOD 25
COME FOR IT, AT $2.25. THE
NOON DINNER, AGAIN UNDER $3, IS SERVED AT 11:30 TO ANYWHERE FROM 30 TO 50 PEOPLE. THE SAME MENU OF FOOD IS DELIVERED BY
VOLUNTEERS TO 40 TO 45 DAILY. HEAD COOK AT THE SENIOR CENTER IS JANICE
HAHN. ASSISTANT COOK IS DORIS JOHNSON AND DARLENE FRANZEN IS A KITCHEN
AIDE. ALL ARE WELL LIKED BECAUSE THEY DO A GOOD JOB EVERY WEEK
HOSTING THE SENIORS. THERE IS ENTERTAINMENT OR ACTIVITIES ALMOST EVERY DAY TOO. OR PLAY POOL OR WATCH TV, OR WATCH THE QUILT LADIES
DO THEIR THING. MAQUOKETA IS LUCKY TO HAVE SUCH A NICE FACILITY FOR
ALL SENIORS IN MAQUOKETA. MORE SHOULD TAKE ADVANTAGE. FOR BREAKFAST, NO PHONE CALL IS NECESSARY, BUT ANYONE ATTENDING THE NOON
DINNER NEEDS TO CALL AND MAKE A RESERVATION BEFORE 9 A.M. AND THE
NUMBER IS 652-6771. ANY QUESTIONS, CALL THE SAME NUMBER AND ASK FOR
AMY. THE SENIOR CENTER IS LOCATED JUST BEFORE THE ENTRANCE TO THE
JACKSON COUNTY FAIRGROUNDS. THANKS TO THE GALS AT THE SENIOR CENTER
FOR THE GREAT JOB THEY ARE DOING. CLICK-ON THIS PHOTO TO ENLARGE IT.
THERE WILL BE NO SPAGETTI SUPPER IN FEBRUARY. THE NEXT ONE WILL BE
IN MARCH. CALL AMY FOR THE DATE OF IT.
