THE MAGISTRATES NOMINATING COMMISSION WILL MEET THIS FRIDAY AFTERNOON AT 3 IN THE JURY ROOM OF THE COURTHOUSE IN MAQUOKETA TO RIVIEW THE APPLICATIONS AND MAKE AN APPOINTMENT.
A NEW ASSISTANT JACKSON COUNTY ATTORNEY IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN WORK HERE THE END OF FEBRUARY. JACKSON COUNTY ATTORNEY SARA
DAVENPORT APPOINTED AMANDA LASSANCE OF DUBUQUE TO THIS
POSITION. SHE REPLACES MATT SPEER WHO RESIGNED TO GO BACK TO HIS HOME COUNTY AS THE ASSISTANT THERE. SHE WILL START AT
$43,000 A YEAR.
THE JACKSON COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS TODAY APPOINTED RANDY BENDER OF BELLEVUE TO THE JACKSON COUNTY CONSERVATION BOARD,
TO REPLACE GERALD MILLRIGHT. THERE WERE SEVEN APPLICANTS.
THE APPOINTMENT IS FOR 5 YEARS.
THE MAQUOKETA SCHOOL BOARD HAS CHANGED ITS MIND AND WILL AGAIN THIS YEAR, OFFER EARLY RETIREMENT TO THOSE WHO QUALIFY.
THIS CAN RESULT IN A COST SAVINGS THAT MAY BE NEEDED IF THE DISTRICT
WILL NOT GET A $130,000 GRANT THEY HAD BEEN COUNTING ON.
