MONDAY DAILY REPORT

SUNSHINE TODAY...ST. PATRICK'S DAY!    NOT REAL WARM, BUT FEELS GOOD ANYWAY.  TOMORROW, SUNSHINE AND 52.     THE REST OF WORK WEEK WILL BE IN THE 40'S AND 50'S.    AND, SPRING STARTS THIS THURSDAY!

THE DEWITT SABERS LOST THE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME AT THE
BOY'S STATE BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT SATURDAY NIGHT IN DES MOINES.
THEY PLAY EVEN WITH DUBUQUE WAHLERT THE FIRST 3 QUARTERS AND
THEN WAHLERT PULLED AHEAD AND STAYED AHEAD IN TH 4TH
PERIOD, TO WIN THEIR 3RD STRAIGHT TITLE.

IOWA FANS ARE HAPPY BOTH THE HAWKEYES AND CYCLONES ARE IN THE
NCAA TOURNAMENT. 

THE CITY COUNCIL MEETS TONIGHT.   ON THE AGENDA......
THE VETERAN'S MEMORIAL PROPOSED FOR MAQUOKETA BY NEAR MT. HOPE.
THE DOWNTOWN STREETSCAPE.
FORMER CLINTON ENGINES LAND NOW CITY OWNED AND CROPLAND BIDS.
FIRE CONTRACTS WITH RURAL TOWNSHIPS.

THE SUPERVISORS MEET TOMORROW MORNING AND WILL TALK ABOUT
THE PENROSE ANNEX AND MENTAL  HEALTH.

THE FUNERAL SERVICE WAS HELD THIS MORNING IN DUBUQUE FOR
86 YEAR OLD REV. THOMAS W. RHOMBERG.    HE SERVED AT MANY CHURCHES AND WAS THE PRIEST FOR SACRED HEART HERE IN
MAQUOKETA FROM 1982 TO 1987.

THE CUSTOM OF ST. PATRICK'S DAY CAME TO AMERICA IN 1737 AND THAT FIRST U.S. CELEBRATION WAS IN BOSTON.    ST. PATRICK, THE PATRON SAINT OF IRELAND, WAS BORN IN WALES ABOUT AD 385.   HE DIED ON MARCH 17TH IN AD 461.

IT IS A TOM MESSERLI STATION NOW.
GARY DETERMAN WORKS FOR MESSERLI.    HE HAS BEEN
WITH THE STATION FOR 38 YEARS, DOING THEIR
PLAY-BY-PLAY OF CLINTON GAMES.
OCCASSIONALLY, LIKE LAST WEEK AT THE BOY'S STATE
TOURNAMENT IN DES MOINES, HE DID A COUPLE GAMES
FOR KMAQ.    YOU MAY HAVE HEARD HIM ON KMAQ AND
NOW YOU KNOW WHAT HE LOOKS FOR.     HE VISITED US
LATE THIS MORNING AND BROUGHT WITH HIM, SOME 
BLARNEY STONES...TREATS FOR OUR STAFF.    NICE GUY!
