SUNNY WEEKEND BUT TODAY, BACK TO CLOUDY  SKIES....

FRIDAY NIGHT IN BASKETBALL, THE CARDINAL GIRLS SNAPPED A 3-GAME LOSING
STREAK AND BEAT SOLON, 57 TO 45.    KELSEY BOLLMAN WAS HIGH FOR MAQUOKETA WITH 19 POINTS IN THE GAME PLAYED AT THE MCHS GYM.      THE GIRLS ARE NOW
7 AND 9.
THE BOYS TRAVELED TO SOLON AND LOST TO THE RANKED SPARTANS, 63 TO
47, FOR THEIR 4TH STRAIGHT LOSS.
THE TEAMS PLAY WESTERN DUBUQUE TOMORROW NIGHT.      THE BOYS HERE AND THE GIRLS AT EPWORTH.

THE 4TH ANNUAL WINE TASTING FOR CHARITY IS THIS SUNDAY FROM 1 UNTIL  4 AT THE DECKER HOTEL IN MAQUOKETA, SPONSORED BY THE CATHOLIC DAUGHTERS OF AMERICA.   FUNDS RAISED WILL BENEFIT HOSPICE OF JACKSON COUNTY.

THE COOKIE BAKING CONTEST RETURNS THIS YEAR TO THE KMAQ FARM AND  HOME SHOW ON THE 2ND DAY, FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 12TH.    TWO DIVISIONS....CHOCOLATE

A VEHICLE WAS STOLEN THIS MORNING AFTER MIDNIGHT AND FOUND LATER IN A DITCH ON HIGHWAY 64.   OWNER WAS JASON WHEELER OF MAQUOKETA.

THE MAQUOKETA CITY COUNCIL WILL MEET TONIGHT.

WORD HAS BEEN RECEIVED OF THE DEATH OF MARTIN HOFFINGER, AGE 88, FORMER OWNER OF CLINTON ENGINES COMPANY.    HE DIED JANUARY 23 IN WEST PALM BEACH, FLORIDA.      HE WAS THE LAST OWNER OF THE PLANT BEFORE CLOSING AND SOLD THE LAND AND BUILDINGS TO THE CITY OF MAQUOKETA.

DONALD KRABBENHOFT, AGE 75, OF ANDREW DIED SATURDAY.    SURVIVORS INCLUDE HIS WIFE, AND 3 DAUGHTERS THAT LIVE IN MAQUOKETA.... LORI
HOUSTON, PAM FELLER, AND BRENDA BARTELS.   ALSO 3 SONS SURVIVE.
THE FUNERAL SERVICE WILL BE AT 10 A.M. WEDNESDAY AT THE MILLER-LAW-JONES FUNERAL HOME IN PRESTON.    FRIENDS MAY CALL TUESDAY FROM 4 TO 7 P.M.
HE WAS A JACKSON COUNTY SECONDARY ROAD MAINTENANCE EMPLOYEE AND A FARMER.
