ONE OF THE NEW FEATURES AT THE NEW CLINTON ENGINES MUSEUM IS A CATALOG OF THE FORMER MCHS VARIETY SHOWS. THE SHOWS, DATING BACK TO 1969, HAVE BEEN TRANSFERRED DVD. JANICE FARNUM, LONGTIME MCHS MUSIC TEACHER, COMPILED THE SELECTIONS AS A MEMORIAL TO HER HUSBAND, GAYLE, A FORMER MCHS FOOTBALL COACH. JANICE SAID MOST OF THE SHOWS WERE ON REEL-TO-REEL TAPE AND IT WAS DIFICULT TO FIND SOMEONE TO PUT THOSE ON DVD. SHE SAID A COMPANY IN NEW YORK WAS FOUND AND DID THE WORK. THE COST FOR THE PROJECT WAS PAID-FOR BY JERRY AND MARY JO STEAD, FORMERLY OF MAQUOKETA. THE DVD'S CAN BE VIEWED AT THE MUSEUM OR A COPY MAY BE PURCHASED.
ALSO...THE JACKSON COUNTY GENEOLOGICAL SOCIETY HAS MOVED ITS OFFICES FROM THE MAIN MUSEUM TO THE NEW CLINTON ENGINES MUSEUM. THE OTHER DAY, SOMEONE BROUGHT THIS PICTURE IN. WAS GLAD TO GET IT!
REMEMBER THIS KMAQ VAN? IN 1966, I TRADED-IN MY OLDS SEDAN (THE ONE I HAD WHEN I LIVED AT FORT HOOD, TEXAS WITH THE U.S. ARMY) FOR THIS NEW VAN FROM JOHN WAGENER FORD ON EAST PLATT IN MAQUOKETA, NOW THE HOME OF
T & J MANUFACTURING. AND WE USED IT FOR BOTH KMAQ AND FAMILY TRAVEL FOR SOME TIME. NOT SURE HOW LONG I HAD IT. LARRY HAGER, THEN
MAQUOKETA'S ONLY SIGN PAINTER (YOU HAD TO WAIT AWHILE FOR LARRY TO GET A LETTERING JOB DONE, BUT IT WAS WORTH THE WAIT) PAINTED THE MULTI-COLOR LETTERING ON IT. THE VAN WAS HANDY FOR REMOTE
BROADCASTS. THE BACK ANTENNA WAS FOR A REMOTE BROADCAST TRANSMITTER.
THE ENGINE WAS UP FRONT BETWEEN THE FRONT SEATS. THIS PICTURE WAS TAKEN ON QUARRY STREET, ACROSS THE STREET FROM THE NEWSPAPER OFFICE.
A BRAD DEERY NEW CAR LOT IS WERE THIS HOUSE STOOD. A LOOK BACK ON THIS 50TH ANNIVERSARY MONTH FOR KMAQ. BY THE WAY, JOHN WAGENER HAS NOT
RETIRED. BUSY AS ALWAYS. EVEN OWNS THE RADIO SHACK STORE HERE IN TOWN.
