SUNNY THIS MORNING....CLOUDY THIS AFTERNOON....BUT JUST SPRINKLES.
HAD RAIN OFF AND ON OVER THE WEEKEND....TOTAL RAINFALL IN
MAY IN MAQUOKETA, AROUND 6 INCHES, OVER DOUBLE LAST MAY. SOME
CITIES IN IOWA HAD THE WETTEST MONTH OF MAY IN HISTORY. THE WAPSI FLOODING CAUSED SOME ROADS TWO BE CLOSED FOR AWHILE YESTERDAY. THE VFW AND LEGION DID NOT PUT UP THE AVENUE OF FLAGS AT THE MAQUOKETA CEMETERIES THIS HOLIDAY BECAUSE OF RAIN AND THREATS OF MORE. JACKSON COUNTY IS ONE 67 COUNTIES DESIGNATED
FOR FEDERAL ASSISTANCE, BUT THAT WOULD MAINLY BE FOR CROP LOSS.

NOT MUCH HAPPENED OVER THE WEEKEND, OTHER AND A FEW MINOR ACCIDENTS AROUND THE COUNTY. ANDREW HELD THEIR ANNUAL BRIGG'S MEMORIAL DAY CELEBRATION AND IT WENT WELL. I SAW THE PARADE
SUNDAY AFTERNOON. NOT A BIG ONE, BUT GOOD...A FEW POLITICAL ENTRIES OF COURSE, WITH THE PRIMARY ELECTION A WEEK FROM TODAY.

THE MAQUOKETA HIGH SCHOOL GIRL'S GOLF TEAM IS IN THE STATE TOURNAMENT IN NEAR ANKENY AND GRANGER. THEY ARE THE FAVORITES IN THE 3A FIELD, BUT TODAY, ENDED UP IN A TIE FOR THIRD PLACE WITH A 351 TEAM TOTAL, 8 STROKES BACK. SCORING FOR THE CARDINALS TODAY:
NIKKI GOODALL AN 84...NOW 5TH OVERALL....BRITANY DAVIS, 87, Y0UNGER SISTER, JORDAN, 88, BOTH IN TOP 10 AND TWIN TO BRITANY, BROOKE, SHOT A 93 TODAY. THE 3 SISTERS AND NIKKI PLAY 18 AGAIN TOMORROW, AND WILL TRY TO CATCH THE LEADERS.

THE TWO YEAR OLD BOY THAT RAN INTO A MOVING TRUCK LAST TUESDAY IN DOWNTOWN MAQUOKETA, IS STILL AT UNIVERSITY HOSPITALS AT IOWA CITY.

THERE'S A NEW PROGRAM THAT IS ALLOWING KIDS TO EAT FREE ..BREAKFAST OR LUNCH..THIS SUMMER AT THE SENIOR CENTER.
NO GUIDELINES...MENT TO HELP THOSE CHILDREN WHO ONLY EAT AT SCHOOL DURING THE YEAR.

DR. MATTHEW AND LISA BIEHL WAACK OF MAQUOKETA ARE PARENTS OF A BOY BORN MAY 27TH AT THE J.C.P. HOSPITAL HERE IN TOWN.
MATERNAL GREAT-GRANDPARENTS ARE ARE DR. LEO AND LOIS BIEHL OF MAQUOKETA.
