JACKSON COUNTY FEBRUARY UNEMPLOYMENT RATE WAS 8.1 PERCENT, DOWN FROM 8.6 IN JANUARY. A YEAR AGO FEBRUARY RATE WAS 9.8. IOWA IN FEBRUARY WAS AT 4.1 AND THE U.S. RATE WAS 5.6.

THE FAMILY DOLLAR STORE IN MAQUOKETA HAD A SHOPLIFTER, AND HE GOT AWAY WITH 6 T-SHIRTS. AND PAM HANSEN OF SOUTH 5TH STREET REPORTED SOMEONE TOOK $275 CASH AND OTHER ITEMS FROM HER VEHICLE.

THE JACKSON COUNTY FAIR ASSOCIATION AND HISTORICAL SOCIETY ARE JOINNG TOGETHER TO SPONSOR A JACKSON COUNTY TRIVIA CONTEST ON SUNDAY, APRIL 18TH, STARTING AT 2 P.M. TABLES WILL HAVE UP TO 8 PLAYERS, PAYING $10 EACH PERSON TO PLAY AND THE WINING TABLE WILL GET $200. WILL BE HELD AT THE PEARSON CENTER ON THE FAIRGROUNDS IN MAQUOKETA.
