FRIDAY DAILY REPORT

CLOUDY MOST OF DAY AND THEN THE SUN CAME OUT LATE THIS AFTERNOON AND WITH LITTLE WIND, WE ENDED UP WITH A HIGH TODAY
OF 38.
TOMORROW, SUNNY AND 56 AND SUNDAY PARTLY SUNNY AND 57.

IT STARTS TONIGHT...

IT IS THE TALK OF THE TOWN.   EVERYONE IS GOING, TONIGHT, TOMORROW NIGHT OR SUNDAY AFTERNOON.    JACK JONES (MANAGER OF THE VOY THEATRES SINCE LATE 1974) WAS ONE OF THE BIG STARS OF SHOW IN 1974.   HE WON'T BE EMCEE THIS TIME, BUT WILL BE
HERR SCHUTZ.    HE WAS IN MANY PPP PLAYS, BUT THIS IS THE FIRST ONE
IN PAST 10 YEARS.   TRUST ME, HE WILL BE GOOD AGAIN THIS TIME....THE
WHOLE SHOW WILL BE.

SPORTS:   EASTON VALLEY  (MILES AND PRESTON AND SABULA) WON THIER
TOURNAMENT GAME LAST NIGHT AND WILL BE IN THE SUB-STATE GAME
TOMORROW (SAT) NIGHT AT IOWA CITY WEST, PLAYING DANVILLE.    THE WINNER GOES TO THE STATE  TOURNAMENT.    MATT CLARK WILL DO THE GAME BROADCAST ON KMAQ AND OUR INTERNET HOME PAGE.

CHIARA ATIENZA, SENIOR, AND MAQUOKETA LEADING SCORER AND SECOND LEADING REBOUNDER HAS BEEN SELECTED BY WAMAC COACHES TO THE ALL CONFERENCE SECOND TEAM FOR THE EAST DIVISION.    KAILIE HAZER, A SENIOR, AND JUNIOR CATIA ATIENZA WERE BOTH NAMED AS  HONORABLE
MENTION.     CHIARA AND CATIA ARE SISTERS.

THERE WAS A FIRE THURSDAY AFTERNOON AT THE TERRY KAUFFMAN PROPERTY ON  168TH AVENUE NORTHWEST OF MAQUOKETA.     KAUFFMAN
WAS WORKING ON A TRUCK IN HIS SHOP AND IT CAUGHT FIRE.   HE PUSHED IT FROM THE GARAGE AND PUT THE FIRE OUT BEFORE FIREMEN ARRIVED.

THE MAQUOKETA MUNICIPAL ELECTRIC  BOARD OF TRUSTEES VOTED 5 TO 0 TO EXTEND THE CONRACT WITH WPPI ENERGY FOR ANOTHER 18 YEARS.
THE ACTION COMMITS THE LOCAL UTILITY TO PURCHASE ALL OF ITS POWER FROM THE WISCONSIN BASED WHOLESALE ELECTRICITY SUPPLIER UNTIL 2037.
GUESS THAT ELIMINATES ANY IDEA OF USING WIND ENGERGY FOR THE
MAQUOKETA DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM.

A MAQUOKETA WOMAN HAS ACCEPTED THE POSITION OF DIRECTOR OF
THE LITTLE SHEPHERD CHRISTIAN PRE-SCHOOL AS THE TEACHER OF THE THREE YEAR OLD CLASS.   SHE STARTS MONDAY.     HOWEL, WHO IS MARRIED AND HAS 3 CHILDREN, REPLACES SHANNON FLAGEL WHO RESIGNED TO RETURN TO WORK IN CHILD CARE AT THE ROCK ISLAND ARSENAL.    LITTLE SHEPHERD CLASSES ARE HELD AT THE FIRST LUTHERAN CHURCH IN MAQUOKETA.

A NEWSPAPER STORY FROM THE PAST(1971)....

HAVE A NICE WEEKEND.
