THE MAQUOKETA GIRLS LOST THEIR TOURNAMENT GAME SATURDAY NIGHT
TO DEWITT. IT WAS A CLOSE GAME.

A HOUSE GOES DOWN IN MAQUOKETA TODAY!
THIS HOUSE WAS TAKEN DOWN TODAY, AT THE CORNER OF WESTERN AVENUEAMD WEST SUMMIT STREET. THE RANCH HOME HAS NOT BEEN LIVED IN
FOR YEARS. WHEN I CAME TO TOWN IN 1958 IT WAS THE HOME OF RAY KROEGER
AND HIS WIFE AND SON. TO THE NORTH IS WHERE PART OF THE BIG TUBB'S APPLE ORCHARD WAS LOCATED. THE HOUSE AND PROPERTY, OWNED BY THE CITY OF MAQUOKETA, WILL BE THE LOCATION OF A NEW STREET. AN OUT OF TOWN FIRM
IS BUYING THE PROPERTY FROM THE CITY AND NEARLY 30 BUILDING LOTS WILL
BE AVAILABLE.
MY MEMORY IS NOT PERFECT ON THE KROEGER'S BUT I THINK RAY OWNED
A SALE BARN, MAYBE OWNED SOME RACE HORSES AND WAS ACTIVE FOR MANY
YEARS ON THE JACKSON COUNTY FAIR BOARD.
CLICK-ON PHOTO TO ENLARGE IT.
AND THANKS TO THE NEARLY 500 PEOPLE THAT BROUGHT UP THIS WEB SITE OVER THE
WEEKEND.
