MEINECKE SAID BRIAN SCHWOOB OF BERNARD WAS PLOWING SNOW IN
THE LOT AND HIT A VEHICLE DRIVEN BY TERRY SCHROEDER, 26, OF
MAQUOKETA. $2,000 DAMAGE TO THE 99 OLDSMOBILE DRIVEN BY
SCHROEDER AND NO DAMAGE TO THE FORD TRUCK WITH THE BLADE ON
IT.
MAQUOKETA CITY COUNCIL MEETING TONIGHT. THERE WILL BE A PUBLIC HEARING ON NEXT YEAR'S BUDGET, THAT CALLS FOR A TAX INCREASE
OF 40-CENTS PER $1,000 ASSESSED VALUATION. THE INCREASE BECAUSE
OF A STATE REQUIREMENT FOR FUNDING THE POLICE PENSION FUND.
ALSO, THE COUNCIL TONIGHT WILL GET AN UPDATE ON THE RE-LIGHTING
PROJECT IN THE CITY AND WILL TALK ABOUT SOME WORK PLANNED FOR THE
COMMUNITY CENTER.
HUNTER MANNING, PLACED 5TH PLACE AT THE PEE-WEE STATE WRESTLING
TOURNAMENT YESTERDAY AT THE YOUNG ARENA IN WATERLOO. HE WAS IN A 32-MAN BRACKET AND WRESTLED 8 MATCHES TO EARN HIS METAL. HUNTER
WRESTLES FOR THE MAQUOKETA LITTLE CARDS, COACHED BY GARY KOPPES AND HIS DAD, RANDY. HUNTER IS THE SON OF RANDY AND JEANIE MANNING
AND A SECOND GRADE STUDENT AT CARDINAL ELEMENTARY.
MARC JUERGENS IS THE WRESTLING COACH AT WEST BRANCH AND ONE OF HIS WRESTLERS WAS A 195 STATE CHAMP LAST MONTH IN DES MOINES.
MARC FINISHED HIS 3RD SEASON AT WEST BRANCH AS COACH. HE AND
HIS BROTHER ERIC HAD GREAT SEASON FOR MCHS IN THE LATE 90'S.
THE CHICAGO CUBS LOST THEIR SPRING TRAINING OPENING GAME YESTERDAY AND TODAY THE WORLD CHAMPION ST. LOUIS CARDINALS LOST THEIR
