NO SNOW TODAY.
HIGH OF 14 TODAY.
DOWN TO 8 BELOW TONIGHT...
BUT LOOKING AHEAD...WE SHOULD BE IN THE 30'S BY NEXT WEDNESDAY.

THE  INVESTIGATION CONTINUES INTO A FIRE IN MICHIGAN THAT HAS CLAIMED
THE LIFE OF A FORMER MAQUOKETA MAN.       51-YEAR-OLD LEON SCHOENTHALER OF MAQUOKETA DIED AS THE RESULT OF A FIRE IN A  DOUBLE-WIDE MOBILE
HOME IN A DETROIT SUBURB.    THE FIRE BROKE OUT AROUND 3:15 YESTERDAY AFTERNOON.     LEON WAS ALONE AT THE TIME.    AN AUTOPSY IS BEING
CONDUCTED.  HE WORKED IN THE AUTOMOTIVE INDUSTRY IN DETROIT AND IS SURVIVED BY TWO CHILDREN IN MICHIGAN, APRIL AND SHAWN.     ALSO SURVIVED BY HIS PARENTS, MILO AND FERN SCHOENTHALER IN MAQUOKETA AND 3 BROTHERS, INCLUDING BOYD IN MAQUOKETA.   FUNERAL ARRANGEMENTS ARE PENDING.

AT THIS WEEK'S CITY COUNCIL MEETING, NEW COUNCILMAN DON SCHWENKER
WAS APPOINTED MAYOR PRO-TEM  BY NEW MAYOR JASON HUTE.
ALSO HUTE APPOINTED LEONARD DITCH TO THE MAQUOKETA MUNICIPAL ELECTRIC UTILITY BOARD.    ANOTHER MEMBER STILL NEEDS TO BE APPOINTED TO THAT
BOARD.

TODAY WAS ELVIS PRESLEY'S 75TH BIRTHDAY.    AND ALSO RON MILLER'S 77TH.
RON AND SHIRLEY ARE REGULAR READERS OF THIS DAILY REPORT, WERE
FORMERLY OF THIS AREA AND NOW LIVE IN ARIZONA WHERE TODAY IT WAS 70 DEGREES WHERE THEY LIVE,  AFTER 39 THIS MORNING.   COOL ALSO FOR THEM AT THIS TIME OF THE YEAR.    THEY CELEBRATED  RON'S BIRTHDAY WITH FRIENDS, AT A POPULAR MEXICAN RESTAURANT AND FOR DESSERT HAD FRIED ICE CREAM TOPPED WITH STRAWBERRIES.    THE GOOD LIFE DOWN SOUTH.  HAPPY BIRTHDAY RON.
