ANOTHER HOT DAY...86...BUT COOLER WEATHER COMING. GOT SOME RAIN SATURDAY NIGHT...A HEAVY DOWNPOUR FOR ABOUT A HALF HOUR AROUND 7 P.M. TONIGHT, A TORNADO WATCH UNTIL 11 P.M.

AROUND 480 VINTAGE FARM TRACTORS ARE IN MAQUOKETA IN THE ANNUAL WMT TRACTORCADE. A BIG DINNER IS BEING SERVED AT THE FAIRGROUNDS, WHERE THE DRIVERS AND OWNERS WILL CAMP OUT.
TOMORROW, A 4-H BREAKFAST AND THEY ARE OFF TO CLINTON COUNTY AT 8 A.M.

THE JACKSON COUNTY PRO RODEO WAS A SUCCESS, DESPITE THUNDERSTORMS ALL 3 NIGHTS. THEY DO NOT ALLOW BEER TO BE CONSUMED AT THE RODEO AND TWO PEOPLE WERE ARRESTED SATURDAY NIGHT FOR DRINKING BEER ON THE GROUNDS......CHARGED WERE WALTER MCFADDEN, 20, OF DUBUQUE AND TRISHA O'CONNELL, 19, OF MAQUOKETA.

MISS MUSCATINE, KAY PAUSZEK OF BETTENDORF,IS THE NEW MISS IOWA, CROWNED SATURDAY NIGHT AT ELDRIDGE. RUNNER-UP (19 GIRLS COMPETED) WAS GRETCHEN DAVISON, 24, OF MAQUOKETA, THE REIGNING MISS MAQUOKETA RIVER.

SCHOOL BOARD MEETING IN MAQUOKETA TONIGHT. THE BOARD WILL BE HIRING A NEW ASSISTANT HIGH SCHOOL PRINCIPAL.
