SPRINGBROOK. SORRY I MISSED MUSIC BY THE "IOWA CORN FED GIRLS".
THEY HAD FINISHED PLAYING WHEN WE ARRIVED.

DR DANGER WAS IN TOWN OVER THE WEEKEND. 13 MONTHS AGO AT THE
JACKSON COUNTY FAIR, HE CRASHED INTO A SEMI AND THE STUNT DIDN'T GO AS PLANNED AND HE LANDED IN THE HOSPITAL HERE, AND THEN IN IOWA CITY. AFTER ALMOST A YEAR OF RECOVERY, HE DID A COUPLE STUNTS FRIDAY NIGHT AT TIMBER LANDE AND SATURDAY NIGHT AT THE RACES. MY SON DAVE DID SOME PHOTOGRAPHY OF HIM AND SAID HE
IS A NICE GUY AND LIVES IN TEXAS. HE TALKED TO STUDENTS FRIDAY
AND ALSO VISITED THE PRESTON FIRE DEPARTMENT. HE LIKES MAQUOKETA AND WILL BE BACK.
HAD LUNCH TODAY AT CITY LIMITS RESTAURANT WITH BOB RUPP, ABOVE,
OF MAQUOKETA, ONE OF MAQUOKETA'S OLDEST RESIDENTS. I FIRST MET HIM AT MY WEDDING IN 1964. HE WAS AN UNCLE OF NANCY'S. HE WORKED AT SEVERAL PLACES, INCLUDING FOR MANY YEARS, SWISS VALLEY FARMS. BEEN RETIRED 32 YEARS AND LIVING IN HIS HOME SINCE 1957. WIFE CHARLENE DIED A COUPLE YEARS AGO AND THEN HIS ONLY
DAUGHTER DIED SHORTLY AFTER. HE HAS A SON DOWN SOUTH AND
SEVERAL GRANDCHILDREN. HE GETS AROUND WITH HIS 20 YEAR OLD
FORD, YESTERDAY CRUISING FOR NEARLY AN HOUR. HAVE ALWAYS ENJOYED MY VISITS WITH BOB. STILL SHARP TODAY, BUT ADMITS LIFE GETS LONELY A LOT. IF YOU KNOW HIM, DROP A NOTE OR PAY A VISIT.
TOMORROW IS RED HENTON'S 94TH BIRTHDAY. HIS CELL PHONE NUMBER IS
563-503-1337 IN CASE YOU WANT TO GIVE HIM A CALL AND WISH HIM A HAPPY
BIRTHDAY.

AT ONE TIME THIS SUMMER, THE ST. LOUIS CARDINALS WERE 7 1/2 GAMES
OUT OF FIRST PLACE. TODAY, THEY ARE IN FIRST PLACE IN THE CENTRAL DIVISION, A GAME AHEAD OF THE BREWERS. THEY PLAY PITTSBURG
TONIGHT AGAIN AND HAVE 4 GAMES COMING UP AT MILWAUKEE.
WILL THEY STILL BE IN FIRST PLACE NEXT TUESDAY AT THIS TIME?
YOU CAN COUNT ON IT!
HAVE A GOOD NIGHT AND WEDNESDAY.
KEEP COOL BUT DON'T COMPLAIN....REMEMBER THE SNOW AND COLD
