THE WEATHER HAS BEEN GREAT FOR THE WEEKEND. TODAY, SUNNY AND WE EXPECT TO GET UP IN THE UPPER 80'S. SOME RAIN AND COOLER WEATHER IS COMING.

HOPEFULLY, THE WEATHER WILL BE GOOD FOR THE STATE FIREMEN'S CONVENTION LATER THIS WEEK IN MAQUOKETA. FIREMEN HAVE STARTED TO ARRIVE. I WAS DOWN AT THE FAIRGROUNDS LAST NIGHT AND ABOUT 20 RV'S ARE PARKED ALREADY AT BOTH BIG CAMPGROUNDS SET UP FOR THE FIREMEN AND WIVES.
IT WILL BE FUN, BUSY WEEK IN MAQUOKETA AND I'LL BE TELLING YOU ABOUT IT ALL WEEK LONG, WITH SOME PHOTOS TOO.

MAQUOKETA FIREMEN HELPED FOUR OTHER DEPARTMENTS FIGHT A RURAL LAMOTTE FIRE YESTERDAY AFTERNOON. 50 BIG BALES OF HAY WERE DESTROYED.
THE HAY BALES WERE NEXT TO BUILDING AND THEY SAVED THE BUILDING.
FIRMEN WERE AT THE SCENE ABOUT 4 HOURS.

THE MAQUOKETA CARDINALS WON THEIR OPENING FOOTBALL GAME OF THE SEASON FRIDAY NIGHT AT WEST LIBERTY.

IOWA STATE WON FRIDAY NIGHT AND THE HAWKEYES SATURDAY AFTERNOON, SO BOTH OF IOWA'S MAJOR FOOTBALL TEAMS ARE OFF AND RUNNING.

SORRY FOR THE SHORT REPORT. I'LL HAVE MORE TOMORROW.

HAVE A FUN AND SAFE LABOR DAY HOLIDAY.
