DEMOCRAT TOD BOWMAN DEFEATED REPUBLICAN ANDREW NAEVE ON NOVEMBER 2ND BY LESS THAN 100 VOTES. NAEVE ASKED FOR THE RECOUNT. FOR THAT SENATE SEAT, HELD BY RETIRING ROGER STEWART, DEMOCRAT, A RECOUNT HAS TO HAPPEN IN ALL 3 COUNTIES, DUBUQUE INCLUDED. DUBUQUE COUNTY SUPERVISORS ARE EXPECTED TO APPROVE THE RECOUNT LATER THIS WEEK. A THREE-MEMBER BOARD WILL BE IN CHARGE OF THE DETAILS.

THE POPULAR "MANNY'S PIZZA" IN DOWNTOWN SAVANNA WAS GUTTED BY
FIRE AROUND 6 YESTERDAY MORNING. THE BUILDING WAS AROUND 100 YEARS OLD AND THE BUSINESS HAS BEEN IN SAVANNA FOR 36 YEARS. THE OWNER PLANS TO REBUILD IN THE SAME LOCATION. IT EMPLOYS ABOUT 20 PEOPLE. FOUR UPSTAIRS APARTMENTS WERE ALSO IN THE BUILDING.
