AND DR. PAUL BROWN STOPPED IN FOR A CUP AND WE HAD A GOOD
CONVERSATION. MANY OF YOU REMEMBER THE "BROMAN AND BROWN"
MEDICAL CLINIC IN MAQUOKETA, FROM THE MID-50'S TO THEIR LAST YEAR
OF SEEING PATIENTS 27 YEARS AGO. DR. BROWN, 94, WAS DRIVING
ALONE FROM HIS HOME (IN A NICE CARE CENTER) IN FORT DODGE TO
ROCK FALLS, ILLINOIS, TO HAVE THANKSGIVING DINNER WITH ONE OF
THE 7 CHILDREN. ONE LIVES IN FORT DODGE AND HE HAS BEEN THERE
OVER 10 YEARS. HIS WIFE DORIS DIED 7 YEARS AGO AND IS BURIED
AT MT. HOPE CEMETERY HERE. DR. BROMAN, A COUPLE YEARS OLDER
THAN PAUL, DIED SEVERAL YEARS AGO. DR. BROWN WAS A CITY
COUNCILMAN HERE IN THE LATE 70'S. HIS CHILDREN ARE: GEORGE IN
FLORIDA, ANN IN ROCK FALLS, JANET IN FORT DODGE, JIM IN FLORIDA,
PAULA IN MINNESOTA, CAROL IN MINNESOTA AND PHIL IN DES MOINES.
SEVERAL ARE RETIRED. AS YOU CAN SEE, HE LOOKS GOOD, HAS NO
HEALTH PROBLEMS, AND SUBSCRIBES TO THE MAQUOEKETA SENTINEL-PRESS TO KEEP UP ON WHAT'S HAPPENING HERE. A COUPLE
YEARS AGO THERE WAS A REUNION OF FORMER EMPLOYEES AND
THERE MAY BE ANOTHER SOMETIME.
THE MAQUOKETA GIRLS WON THEIR FIRST BASKETBALL GAME OF THE
SEASON LAST NIGHT, EASILY, AGAINST BENTON.
27 CLUB HOPE MEMBERS FROM MAQUOKETA HIGH ARE IN TEXAS
TO HELP WITH CLEAN-UP. THEY ARRIVED THIS MORNING AND WILL
BE HOME SUNDAY NIGHT, VIA A CHARTERED BUS. TOMORROW THEY WILL HELP SERVE A HUGE THANKSGIVING DINNER.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
