CLIFF AND BARB MERRICK CELEBRATED THEIR 50TH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY SATURDAY NIGHT AT THE DECKER HOTEL AND RESTAURANT.   NANCY AND I WERE THERE FOR DINNER AND RAN INTO CLIFF AND BARB AND FAMILY IN THE LOBBY BEFORE THEIR FAMILY DINNER AND GOT THIS PICTURE.
I TOOK 3 PHOTOS AND DARN, BARB HAD HER EYES CLOSED ON ALL 3....BUT THE  PHOTO IS VERY NICE REGARDLESS.    GOOD LOOKIN' COUPLE FOR 50 YEARS.
WHEN THEY WERE MARRIED ON JANUARY 28 FIFTY YEARS AGO, MAQUOKETA HAD A BAD SNOW STORM.
FRIENDS FROM CHICAGO COULD NOT MAKE IT TO THE WEDDING.
THEY WERE MARRIED AT SACRED  HEART'S OLD CHURCH
ON EAST PLATT STREET.   THE DAY AFTER, THEY WENT TO MINNESOTA TO
VISIT HIS SISTER AND THEN WITHIN 6 DAYS, HE (PFC MERRICK) WAS IN VIET NAM.   HE WAS THERE FOR A YEAR.    THAT OCTOBER, HE MET BARB
IN HAWAII FOR A 7-DAY R & R ARMY LEAVE.     AFTER BEING DISCHARGED,
BACK TO MAQUOKETA.   MANY OF YOU REMEMBER BARB FOR HER WORK
AT SUNSHINE SCHOOL AND CLIFF HAS BEEN A LONGTIME CARPENTER IN
MAQUOKETA.   BOTH ARE ACTIVE IN THE POST 75 AMERICAN LEGION AND
LEGION AUXILIARY.
