CHALK UP ANOTHER ONE!
ANOTHER BEAUTIFUL DAY!
HIGH TODAY,
TOMORROW, STILL CALLING FOR RAIN.
SATURDAY AND SUNDAY, LOOKING PRETTY GOOD AGAIN.
TUESDAY MORNING AROUND 30 MEMBERS OF THE MAQUOKETA AREA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE MET AT THE CHAMBER OFFICE TO DISCUSS THE
ESTABLISHMENT OF NEW "SAFE ZONES". THESE ZONES WILL BE LOCAL BUSINESS PLACES THAT ARE SAFE AREAS FOR LOCAL CHILDREN WHO ARE BEING BULLIED WHEN OUT IN THE COMMUNITY. KIDS CAN COME INTO THE BUSINESS PLACES THAT HAVE A DECAL ON THE DOOR SAYING "SAFE
ZONE" AND CAN TELL THE EMPLOYEES THAT THEY WERE BEING BULLIED.
THE EMPLOYEES WERE TRAINED TUESDAY TO BE ABLE TO GATHER THE
INFORMATION AND BE ABLE TO REPORT IT TO THE SCHOOL ADMINISTRATIVE
OFFICE.
A GOOD TURN OUT LAST NIGHT AT TABOR WINERY AT BALDWIN FOR
HILLARY CLINTON AND TOM VILSACK.
IT WAS A BEAUTIFUL NIGHT FOR AROUND 300 PEOPLE TO STAND ON THE HILLSIDE BY THE WINERY OR SIT ON CHAIRS AND PICNIC TABLES
(FOLDING LAWN CHAIRS WERE NOT ALLOWED IN AREA) CLOSER TO THE BARN BELOW WHERE TOM AND HILLARY SPOKE NEXT TO SOME BALES OF
HAY. THEY ARRIVED (NOT IN A CUSTOMARY BUS) AT 7:10, SOME TWENTY MINUTES EARLY, AND AFTER A TEN MINUTE SPEECH BY THE FORMER IOWA GOVERNOR AND U.S. SECRETARY OF AGRICULTURE, HILLARY SPOKE ABOUT A HALF HOUR, SAYING LOTS OF THINGS PEOPLE WANTED TO HEAR,
JUDGING BY FREQUENT APPLAUSE. SHE THEN SHOOK HANDS AND SIGNED AUTOGRAPHS AFTER.
BOTH LOOKED GOOD AND SOUNDED GOOD DESPITE BEING AT THE END OF A
LONG DAY FOR THE AG RELATED FINAL APPEARANCE OF THE DAY.
EVERYONE HAD TO PASS THROUGH A METAL DETECTOR BEFORE ENTERING
THE RALLY AREA. LOOKS LIKE SHE IS LOOKING RIGHT AT ME DOESN'T IT?
I WAS FAR AWAY, UP THE HILL, AND I WAS USING MY TELEPHOTO LENS.
THERE WILL BE MANY, MANY MORE LIKE THIS BETWEEN NOW AND
NOVEMBER 2016 !
MY FIRST TIME TO MENTION HERE .. DON'T FORGET TO VOTE!
