KMAQ ANNOUNCER JIM SAUNDERS BROKE A BONE JUST BELOW HIS KNEE IN A FREAK FALL AT HIS HOME LAST WEEK AND TODAY WAS RELEASED FROM FINLEY HOSPITAL IN DUBUQUE. HAD TO HAVE A PLATE PUT IN AND WILL BE GONE FOR A COUPLE MORE WEEKS. EVERYONE HAS TO FILL IN FOR HIM THESE DAYS.

TALKED TO ST. REP. BOB OSTERHAUS THIS MORNING ON PHONE FROM CAPITOL IN DES MOINES. THE HOUSE WAS IN SESSION UNTIL 12:40 THIS MORNING. HE SAYS THE HOUSE MAY ADJOURN THIS FRIDAY, BUT COULD GO INTO NEXT WEEK. LAST WEEK, HIS PIERS "ROASTED" HIM AND TWO OTHER RETIRING HOUSE MEMBERS AT A DES MOINES HOTEL DINNER. I MENT TO GET TO IT, BUT HAD TO SKIP IT.

RUMOR HAS IT, THE "FAREWAY" STORE IS LOOKNG FOR LAND ON PLATT STREET FOR A NEW STORE TO REPLACE THEIR OLD ONE DOWNTOWN.

THE ST. LOUIS CARDINALS JUST LOST 11 TO 1 TO HOUSTON AND SO FAR, THE CARDS ARE OFF TO A BAD START. GAME WAS JUST ON KMAQ-FM.
