THE KMAQ FLOAT IN LAST NIGHT'S JACKSON COUNTY FAIR PARADE, WHICH STARTED PROMPTLY AT 6 AND ENDED 1 HOUR AND 40 MINUTES LATER. NICE PARADE, BUT NO HIGH SCHOOL BAND. LOTS OF PEOPLE WATCHED IT AND IT WAS BROADCAST "LIVE" ON KMAQ AM AND FM WITH LEIGHTON HEPKER DESCRIBING
THE PARADE AS IT MOVED PAST THE KMAQ BUILDING AT 129 NORTH MAIN STREET.
AFTER THE PARADE, THE BULL RIDING SHOW. GOOD CROWD FOR IT, BUT ATTENDANCE (2,395)FOR WEDNESDAY WAS BELOW LAST YEAR'S 3,994. IN 2006, 4,719. THE REGULAR $7.00 ADMISSION IS CHARGED ON WEDNESDAY. MANY HAVE PURCHASED THE FUN BOOK WHICH SAVES ADMISSION COST. TODAY IS KID'S DAY AT THE FAIR. STOCK CAR RACING TONIGHT.
THERE WERE 20 ENTRIES IN THE BUCKET OF BLOOMS CONTEST SPONSORED BY THE JACKSON COUNTY MASTER GARDNERS. FIRST PLACE WENT TO DORIS CURRIER OF MAQUOKETA. ALL THE BUCKET OF BLOOMS ARE BEING FEATURED NEAR THE STAGE AT THE PEARSON MEMORIAL CENTER.
LEIGHTON HEPKER IS BROADCASTING FROM THE KMAQ BOOTH THIS AFTERNOON AND I WILL BE THERE TONIGHT. STOP BY AND RIGISTER FOR A 50-DOLLAR BILL.
IT IS KMAQ'S 50TH ANNIVERSARY YEAR.
