WEDNESDAY DAILY

THE JACKSON COUNTY FAIR PARADE WAS JUST STARTING AT 6 P.M. IN DOWNTOWN MAQUOKETA WHEN LEIGHTON AND I STARTED  OUR BROADCAST OF THE PARADE ON KMAQ AND FM.    NEARLY PERFECT WEATHER FOR THE PARADE...A LITTLE WINDY.   AND A BIG TURNOUT.
MARK "SPARKY" ANDERSON WAS THE PARADE MARSHALL.     HONORED FOR
DECADES OF WORK WITH THE FAIR AND 4-H PROGRAM.
WITH 3 GENERATIONS OF VOLUNTEERS, THE FRANZEN FAMILY OF MONMOUTH IS THE "JACKSON COUNTY FAIR FAMILY".     MIKE IS UP FRONT WITH HAND IN AIR WAIVING TO  US.
THE LIONS BIG SWEET CORN SALE IS UNDERWAY AT THE CONVENIENCE STORE AT
ANDREW.    GREAT SWEET CORN.
THE 61 DRIVE-IN KIDDIE TRAIN WHICH GIVES FREE RIDES AT THE DRIVE-IN.   IT IS OVER 50 YEARS OLD AND JUST RE-PAINTED THIS YEAR.    THE ENGINEER IS CASEY CASEL.    I BOUGTH THE TRAIN THAT WAS IN A CEDAR RAPIDS SHED.  IT AT ONE TIME, GAVE RIDES AT THE OUTSIDE  MALL.    
THE FLOAT PROMOTING THE NEW BUILDING PLANNED FOR THE  HIGH SCHOOL GROUNDS FOR 4-H AND  FFA.

THE FAIR QUEEN IS HAILEY SCHWENKER, DAUGHTER OF MAYOR DON AND HIS WIFE
COLLEEN SCHWENKER AND A 2017 GRADUATE OF MAQUOKETA HIGH SCHOOL.   SHE
ATTENDS THE UNIVERSITY OF DUBUQUE WHERE SHE IS WORKING TOWARD A 
DEGREE IN NURSING.   SHE WOULD LIKE TO BE A FLITE NURSE.
TRUCK AND TRACTOR PULL TONIGHT.
COOL WEATHER AND LITTLE OR NO RAIN IN FORECAST THROUGH THE END OF FAIR
ON SUNDAY NIGHT.

KATIE PAULS, THE NEW LIBRARY DIRECTOR FOR THE MAQUOKETA PUBLIC LIBRARY.
A NATIVE OF MAQUOKETA.   STARTED APRIL 2ND.   HAD ALWAYS WANTED A JOB
IN A LIBRARY AND IS HAPPY SHE GOT THIS POSITION AND IS HAPPY WITH THE 
JOB AND IS ADDING SOME THINGS AND HAS SOME NEW IDEAS FOR THE FUTURE.
SHE SPOKE AT ROTARY TODAY.
