THE NEW MANHOLE WAS PUT IN YESTERDAY AND THAT WAS WHY THE
DROP BOX FOR THE POST OFFICE WAS MOVED. SO TODAY, THE DROP
BOX IS BACK WHERE IT ALWAYS IS.
A MAQUOKETA RESIDENT ESCAPED SERIOUS INJURY FROM A ONE-CAR
ACCIDENT ROLLOVER IN NORTHWEST JACKSON COUNTY YESTERDAY
AFTERNOON AROUND 2 O'CLOCK. JACOB HAYWARD, AGE 29, WAS NORTHBOUND ON 60TH AVENUE NORTH OF EMILINE WHEN A DEER
RAN ACROSS THE ROAD IN FRONT OF HIS CAR. HE SWERVED TO
MISS IT AND WENT OFF THE LEFT SIDE OF THE ROADWAY AND DOWN
INTO A RAVINE. HIS VEHICLE ROLLED OVER ONTO IT'S TOP.
ABOUT $10,000 DAMGE TO THE CAR OWNED BY ELIZABETH HAYWARD.
POSSIBLE CHARGES ARE PENDING. HE WAS NOT INJURED AND WAS
ALONE IN THE CAR.
THE MAQUOKETA SCHOOL DISTRICT BOND ELECTION IS GOING ON UNTIL 8 TONIGHT.
AT 8:30 TONIGHT, YOU CAN COME TO THIS DAILY REPORT FOR THE OUTCOME OF THE ELECTION.
THE JACKSON COUNTY FAIR ENTERTAINMENT LINEUP HAS BEEN COMPLETED WITH WORD THAT WEDNESDAY NIGHT AFTER THE PARADE THERE
WILL BE A MOTORCYCLES AND HIGH FLYING ATV SHOW IN FRONT OF THE GRANDSTAND.
KMAQ HAS LEARNED THAT LONGTIME JACKSON COUNTY PUBLIC HOSPITAL
CEO JON JENSEN OF CLEAR LAKE DIED ON MARCH 29TH AT THE AGE OF 87.
HE DIED IN MASON CITY AND HIS FUNERAL WAS LAST SATURDAY.
HE IS SURVIVED BY HIS WIFE CHRIS, TWO CHILDREN, 4 GRANDCHILDREN, AND TWO SISTERS. HE WAS THE MAQUOKETA HOSPITAL ADMINISTRATOR
FOR 23 YEARS AND AFTER WAS EXECUTIVE VICE-PRESIDENT OF THE IOWA
HOSPITAL ASSOCIATION IN DES MOINES FOR 12 YEARS.
A NEW REALTY OFFICE HAS OPENED IN MAQUOKETA...
