MORE CLOUDY CONDITIONS FOR THE WEEKEND.
THE MAQUOKETA VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS CALLED TO
A HAY FIRE YESTERDAY AFTERNOON AT THE RANDAL SHOENHAUER
PLACE ON 40TH AVENUE, RURAL BALDWIN. A SPARK FROM A SKID-LOADER MAY HAVE STARTED IT. NO ONE INJURED.
SIGNS IN DOWNTOWN MAQUOKETA THAT HANG OVER THE SIDEWALK
MAY BECOME LEGAL AGAIN. THEY WERE MADE ILLEGAL YEARS AGO.
SOME NEW SIGNS...EVENTUALLY DIFFERENT LIGHT POLES AND EITHER
NO OR SMALLER TREES COULD GIVE A WHOLE NEW LOOK DOWNTOWN.
THE SIGNS WERE DISCUSSED AT THIS WEEK'S CITY COUNCIL MEETING.
JOHN BECKETT, 61, OF BELLEVUE AND CRAIG ORRIS, 36, OF MAQUOKETA,
WERE IN A TWO-CAR ACCIDENT WEDNEDAY MORNING ON QUARRY
STREET. ORRIS FAILED TO STOP AT A STOP SIGN AT DEARBORN AND
QUARRY AND AND STRUCK THE BECKETT VEHICLE, CAUSING MINOR
DAMAGE TO BOTH CARS. NO INJURIES AND CRAIG ORRIS WAS CITED
FOR FAILURE TO STOP AT A STOP SIGN.

A WIDE ANGLE SHOT OF THE DRIVE-IN
"SKY" WILL BE THE 2ND MOVIE EACH NIGHT FOR THE NEXT WEEK AT THE61 DRIVE-IN THEATRE SOUTH OF MAQUOKETA, AFTER TOM CRUISE IN THE
NEW "MISSION IMPOSSIBLE" MOVIE. A GOOD DOUBLE-FEATURE FOR
$7.50 TOTAL.
IT STARTED WITH THESE TWO GUYS! LITTLE DID THEY
KNOW HOW BIG AND POPULAR THE COMPANY WOULD BE.
THIS WEEKEND....SATURDAY NIGHT AT 7 AND SUNDAY AFTERNOON AT 2...
AT OHNWARD FINE ARTS CENTER IN MAQUOKETA....
THE KMAQ STATE FAIR BUS IS NEARLY FULL.
HAVE A GOOD WEEKEND.
