LAST SATURDAY NIGHT, CLUB HOPE OF MCHS HELD THEIR 5K RACE
....CALLED "LIGHT UP THE NIGHT".   THE PROGRAM CALLS ATTENTION TO
THE ISSUE OF DEPRESSION AND SUICIDE.

UNIVERSITY OF DUBUQUE WIDE RECEIVER TYLER RUTENBECK OF
MAQUOKETA HAS SIGNED A FREE AGENT CONTRACT WITH THE
NFL WASHINGTON REDSKINS.      HE WAS NOT DRAFTED BUT WAS SIGNED
BY THE REDSKINS  LAST SATURDAY.    HE, AT 6'2", FINISHED HIS
COLLEGE CAREER LAST FALL.

IN GOLF, THE MAQUOKETA KIWANIS GOLF OUTING IS GETTING CLOSE....
WEDNESDAY, MAY 20TH AT THE MAQUOKETA COUNTRY CLUB.   IT IS A 5-PERSON BEST SHOT AND BEGINS WITH A SHOTGUN START AT 1 P.M.
A DINNER AND SILENT AUCTION WILL FOLLOW.  ALL KIWANIS MEMBERS
HAVE TICKET.   ANY QUESTIONS OR TO SIGN-UP, CALL KEVIN BURNS,
DAVID SYBESMA OR DON CARSON.

OVER THE WEEKEND, BOYS GOLF AT MT. VERNON.    MT. VERNON
TOOK FIRST...DEWITT 2ND AND THE CARDINALS 7TH.
GIRLS GOLF, HERE, THE WAMAC EAST DIVISIONAL, DYERSVILLE FIRST
WITH A  191 TEAM SCORE.   MAQUOKETA FINISHED  5TH IN THE 7 TEAM
FIELD.

THE UNITED CHURCH OF MAQUOKETA HAS BECOME AN "OPEN AND AFFIRMING" CONGREGATION.     IT BECOMES THE 17TH CONGREGATION
IN IOWA TO ADOPT THE DESIGNATION.      PASTOR HASKINS STAES THAT THE CHURCH NOW WILL STATE PUBLICLY THAT IT WELCOMES ALL PEOPLE,  AND  EXPLICITY INCLUDES THOSE OF ALL GENDER IDENTITIES AND SEXUAL ORIENTATIONS.
