THE NARROW GUAGE RAILROAD LaMOTTE DEPOT MADE THE TRIP TO
MAQUOKETA WITH NO PROBLEMS TODAY. THE MOVERS STARTED OFF
AT LAMOTTE AT 9:30 (HOUR LATER THAN PLAN) AND ARRIVED AT THE
CLINTON ENGINES MUSEUM RESTING PLACE AROUND 1 THIS
AFTERNOON. TOOK LESS TIME THAN EXPECTED.

IT IS OVER THE CONCRETE SLAB THAT WAS BUILDT BY VOLUNTEERS A COUPLE WEEKS AGO. THE DEPOT HAS A WOOD FLOOR AND THE BUILDING
WILL BE ANCHORED ABOUT 6 INCHES ABOVE THE NEW CONCRETE.
TOMORROW, THE MOVER COMPANY PLANS TO PULL OUT THE WHEELS, SO THE LOWERING PROCESS CAN BE DONE. I SUSPECT THE "MAIN" ENTRANCE
TO THE DEPOT WAS THE ONE SHOWN HERE, FACING WEST WHERE THE
CLINTON ENGINES PARKING LOT IS LOCATED.
THIS SIDE FACES EAST. THOSE TWO WINDOWS EXTEND OUT A COUPLE FEET AND I SUPPOSE BEHIND THE WINDOWS IS WHERE THE DEPOT AGENT SAT SO HE COULD LOOK UP AND DOWN THE TRACKS.
THIS PHOTO SHOWS THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE DEPOT AND
THE NEW BUILDING COMPLETED LAST YEAR AND STILL NOT READY FOR
PUBLIC VIEWING.
THIS VIEW SHOWS THAT THE DEPOT IS BEHIND THE CLINTON ENGINES MUSEUM AND ON THE EDGE OF THE PARKING LOT. THAT IS DOUG MELVOLD AND BONNIE MITCHELL IN THE PARKING LOT TALKING ABOUT THE MOVE.
NOW THE WORK BEGINS...GETTING IT ALL PUT TOGETHER AGAIN...PUTTING
IN ARTIFACTS...AND PLANNING A GRAND OPENING.
AND WE WILL ALL KEEP LOOKING FOR A NARROW GUAGE LOCOMOTIVE
OR CAR TO PUT ON TRACKS ALONG SIDE THE DEPOT. HERE COMES ONE!
