TUESDAY DAILY REPORT

SIX INCHES OF SNOW OVERNIGHT LAST NIGHT.
OVER NIGHT LOW, ZERO.
NO MORE SNOW TODAY.
COLD TONIGHT WITH A LOW OF  11 BELOW ZERO.
AND TOMORROW, SUNNY, BLOWING SNOW AND -4 FOR A  HIGH.
WEDNESDAY NIGHT, 18 BELOW.    OUCH.
COLD RIGHT THROUGH THE WEEKEND.

NO SCHOOL TODAY

IS THIS HEAVEN?  NO THIS IS IOWA!

SHORT CITY COUNCIL MEETING LAST NIGHT.    THE SATISFACTORY EVALUATION OF CITY MANAGER BRIAN WAGNER WAS NOTED.
THE POSITION IS EVALUATED ANNUALLY.
THE POSITION OF CONFIDENTIAL SECRETARY AT CITY HALL WAS
ACTIVATED AGAIN WITH AN UPDATED PAY SCALE.    THEN, OFFICE
EMPLOYEE FOR MANY YEARS, SARA JOHNSTON, WAS NAMED THE CITY'S
CONFIDENTIAL SECRETARY ON THE 8-YEAR PAY SCALE.

THE JACKSON COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS MET THIS MORNING.
IT WAS NEW MEMBER LARRY McDEVITT'S FIRST OFFICIAL MEETING.
COUNTY ENGINEER CLARK SCHLOZ A $29,000 PROJECT FOR A BRIDGE REPLACEMENT ON THE BELLEVUE-CASCADE ROAD.
LARRY McDEVITT NOMINATED LARRY "BUCK" KOOS FOR CHAIRMAN OF
THE BOARD FOR 2015.    THEN McDEVITT NOMINATED JACK WILLEY
TO BE THIS YEAR'S VICE-CHAIRMAN.

JACKSON COUNTY DEPUTY SHERIFF BRANDON BECK INVESTIGATED
A ONE-VEHICLE ACCIDENT JUST BEFORE 11:30 THIS MORNING, JUST
NORTH OF MAQUOKETA ON THE HURSTVILLE ROAD.    SHIRLEY OLSON OF
RURAL MAQUOKETA WAS SOUTHBOUND ON THE ROAD AND HIT A SLICK
SPOT ON THE ROAD.    HER VAN WENT ACROSS THE NORTHBOUND LANE AND ONTO THE EAST SHOULDER AND CONTINUED INTO THE DITCH, GOING
OVER A LARGE CULVERT.   SHE WAS ALONE IN THE VEHICLE  AND WAS TAKEN BY AMBULANCE TO THE HOSPITAL IN MAQUOKETA FOR TREATMENT OF
HER INJURIES.  

ON THE POLICE BLOTTER, ROY WARD OF MAQUOKETA REPORTED THAT
THE HOUSE AT 419 N. 2ND STREET IN MAQUOKETA WAS BROKEN IN TO WITH TOOLS AND OTHER THINGS TAKEN.

MAQUOKETA SCHOOL SUPT. CRIST HOOVER INFORMED KMAQ THAT
THE FIRST SCHOOL BOARD MEETING OF THE NEW YEAR HAS BEEN
CHANGED FROM JANUARY 12TH TO JANUARY 19TH.
ALSO, TODAY'S SNOW DAY WILL BE MADE UP AT THE END OF THE SCHOOL YEAR ON MAY 20TH.

THEJACKSON COUNTY CATTLEMEN'S ANNUAL BEEF BANQUET IS THIS
SATURDAY NIGHT AT THE PEARSON CENTER ON THE FAIRGROUNDS
IN MAQUOKETA.       SERVING OF RIB EYE STEAK DINNER STARTS AT 5
AND THE PUBLIC IS WELCOME.     ENTERTAINMENT BY TWO COMEDIANS AFTER THE  SHORT BUSINESS MEETING AND CROWNING OF THE NEW
BEEF AMBASSADORS, QUEEN AND PRINCESS.
