SUNDAY WAS A GREAT DAY AT THE LITTLE JACKSON COUNTY TOWN OF FULTON, NORTH OF MAQUOKETA A FEW MILES AND ALONG HIGHWAY 61.
THE FULTON COMMUNITY CHURCH
CELEBRATED ITS 140TH ANNIVERSARY.
OVER 50 PEOPLE (MEMBERS AND GUESTS) GATHERED FOR A SPECIAL
11 A.M. WORSHIP SERVICE AND POTLUCK DINNER AFTER.
THE MINISTER OF THE CHURCH IS PASTOR FRED KRAMER, SHOWN ABOVE.
NOTE, SITTING ON THE CHAIR BEHIND HIM, GLEN HENTON. GLEN, AGE 93,
ATTENDED THE CHURCH AS A LITTLE BOY.
GLEN "RED" WAS PRESENTED WITH A CERTIFICATE OF APPRECIATON FOR ALL HEHAS DONE AND STILL DOES FOR THE CHURCH. HE WAS THE EMCEE OF THEANNIVERSARY SERVICE YESTERDAY. JACKSON COUNTY ALMOST LOST THE LITTLE CHURCH WHEN HIGHWAY 61 WAS MADE INTO A 4-LANE HIGHWAY.THE CHURCH WAS IN THE WAY AND ABOUT TO BE DEMOLISHED WHENRED AND FRIENDS RAISED MONEY AND MOVED IT INTO DOWNTOWN FULTON. THEY SET IT ON A NEW FOUNDATION THAT INCLUDED A BASEMENT.
AND IT HAS BEEN IMPROVED AND USED SINCE THEN. THERE ARE TWO
11 A.M. SUNDAY SERVICES EVERY MONTH.
RED'S GRANDAUGHTER BROOKE BYAM, COUNTRY SINGER FROM NASHVILLE,
WAS PRESENT AND LED THE CONGREGATION SINGING HYMNS.
RED'S DAUGHTER JUDY FROM CLINTON (BROOKE'S MOTHER) SANG A SONG WITH DAD.
ABOVE, RED'S GREAT GRANDDAUGHTER, ERICA SUBCLIFF, SANG A SONG.
RED HAD HAS TWO DAUGHTERS. NANCY LIVES IN GEORGIA. HER SON MATT WALKER ABOVE IS THE ORGANIST FOR THE CHURCH TWICE EACH MONTH AND WAS ON HAND YESTERDAY. HE HAS BEEN DOING THIS FOR
YEARS, DRIVING FROM IOWA CITY FOR THE SUNDAY SERVICE.
HE ALSO IS MUSICAL DIRECTOR FOR GRANDPA RED'S MUSIC CD'S ON SALE AT KMAQ.
THE 70-MINUTE SERVICE CONCLUDED WITH THE BLESSING BY PASTOR KRAMER AND BY THEN, EVERYONE WAS HUNGRY AND WENT DOWNSTAIRS FOR THE POTLUCK.

DAUGHTER BEVAN KNOEBEL AND HER SONS SPENCER LAMAR IN THE GREEN SHIRT AND ATLEE LAMAR IN THE BROWN SHIRT. ROSE AND BEVAN BOTH ATTENDED SUNDAY SCHOOL AT THE CHURCH. THEY NO LONGER HAVE SUNDAY SCHOOL OR SPENCER AND ATLEE WOULD ATTEND. ROSE
IS ALSO THE GARDNER FOR THE CHURCH, TAKING CARE OF THE FLOWERS
OUTSIDE. VISITORS ARE ALWAYS WELCOME AT THE TWO MONTHLY
SUNDAY SERVICES.
RED IS ALREADY MAKING PLANS FOR THE 150TH ANNIVERSARY THE LITTLE.....
