SATURDAY AFTERNOON, A WOOD PILE AND GRASS FIRE AT THE MERLE BRADY RESIDENCE RURAL MAQUOKETA, THE CODFISH HOLLOW ROAD.
THERE WAS CONCERN ABOUT SPREADING TO NEARBY BUILDINGS.
FIREMEN PUT OUT THE FIRE AND RETURNED HOME IN ABOUT 15 MINUTES.
SUNDAY MORNING, 2 A.M., TO 109TH AVENUE NORTHWEST OF MAQUOKETA TO AN ABANDONED HOME THAT CAUGHT FIRE. HOME DESTROYED AND WAS OWNED BY A CAMANCHE RESIDENT.
YESTERDAY AFTERNOON AT 3, A CAR ON FIRE WEST OF EMELINE.
NO MAJOR DAMAGE. THE DRIVER WAS NOT IDENTIFIED.
DEAN BICKFORD RETIRED FROM THE FAREWAY STORE IN MAQUOKETA ON MARCH 1, 2014, AFTER WORKING AT THE LOCAL STORE FOR 47 YEARS.
THE PRESIDENT OF FAREWAY (CENTER) FRED GREINER CAME TO MAQUOKETA TO PRESENT DEAN WITH A PLAQUE AND CLOCK FOR HIS MANY YEARS OF SERVICE. ALSO PRESENT, IN THE BLACK TIE, MAQUOKETA FAREWAY MANAGER MIKE KOLL. LEFT END OF PHOTO, SUPERVISOR

COOK. CONGRATULATIONS DEAN AND HAPPY RETIREMENT.
SEVERAL INCIDENTS REPORTED TO THE LAW CENTER OVER THE WEEKEND.
SATURDAY MORNING, THOMAS GREEVE REPORTED A BURGLARY AT HIS
GARAGE ON HIGHWAY 64. SEVERAL ITEMS TAKEN.
JIM VAN DORN REPORTED THE THEFT OF A PORT-A-POTTY FROM A FARM HE OWNS SOUTH OF BALDWIN.
SATURDAY AFTERNOON, CRAIG MUHLHAUSEN REPORTED THE THEFT OF A MAN'S BIKE FROM NORTH JONES. THE BIKE HAD A VALUE OF $300.
SUNDAY AFTERNOON, KELLY SPRAGUE REPORTED A HIT AND RUN ACCIDENT.
AND KEN AUREDEN OF 167TH AVENUE TOLD AUTHORITIES HIS GARAGE NORTH OF MAQUOKETA HAD BEEN VANDALISED.

THEY SAY THEY WILL HAVE A MENU SPECIALIZING IN BARBEQUE AND SOUTHERN FOOD AND "LIVE" BLUES AND JAZZ MUSIC.
HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE ENJOYED THE ABOVE MOVIE THIS PAST WEEKEND
AT THE VOY 3 THEATRE. REMEMBER, TUESDAY NIGHT IS BARGAIN NIGHT
AND WEDNESDAY NIGHT IS FREE POPCORN NIGHT.
