AT MINNEAPOLIS. LOTS OF GOOD MOVIES COMING THIS SPRING AND
SUMMER. WE SAW THE NEW STAR TREK MOVIE AND IT SHOULD BE
A BIG HIT. IT WILL OPEN A WEEK FROM FRIDAY.
A GAS LEAK REPORTED JUST OFF SUMMIT STREET LAST NIGHT AT 6:30.
THE STREETS AROUND IT WERE CLOSED AND THE FIRE DEPARTMENT
SPENT ALL NIGHT MONITORING THE SITUATION. ELIMINATING THE
LEAK WAS COMPLETED THIS MORNING. THEY ARE BUILDING A NEW
FIBER OPTIC LINE IN MAQUOKETA AND THE CREW STRUCK A NATURAL
GAS PIPE.
A DRIVE IS UNDERWAY TO REPLACE THE SOUND SYSTEM AT THE JACKSON COUNTY SENIOR CENTER ON EAST QUARRY STREET. THE SUPERVISORS
THIS WEEK GAVE $500. THEY ARE TRYING TO RAISE $1,700 FROM
DONATIONS.
THE PEACE PIPE PLAYERS COMMUNITY THEATRE GROUP WINNER OF THEIR
5TH ANNUAL $500 PERFORMING ARTS SCHOLARSHIP IS JACOB KILBURG OF NORTHEAST HIGH SCHOOL IN GOOSE LAKE. HE WILL BE ATTENDING
AUGUSTANA COLLEGE THIS FALL. THEY RAISE THE SCHOLARSHIP
MONEY BY SELLING CONCESSIONS AT THEIR PERFORMANCES AT THE
OHNWARD FINE ARTS CENTER.
