THE FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH IN MAQUOKETA WILL CELEBRATE
THE 170TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE CHURCH THIS SUNDAY, AT 804 W. PLATT STREET.   THE PASTOR DAVID GLAVIN SAID THE CELEBRATION WILL FOCUS
ON A REFLECTION OF THE PAST AND PRESENT CHURCH, WHICH WAS
ORGANIZED ON AUGUST 31, 1842 WHEN 14 PEOPLE MET IN A HOME WEST OF
MAQUOKETA.
A PUBLIC POTLUCK DINNER WILL FOLLOW THE SERVICE.
THE CHURCH HAS BEEN AT ITS PRESENT SITE SINCE 1958.

THE MAQUOKETA KIWANIS CLUB WILL AGAIN SPONSOR THE ANNUAL
NFL PUNT, PASS AND KICK COMPETITION ON FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 7TH, AT THE NORTHEAST PARKING LOT OF GOODENOW FIELD, FROM 4 UNTIL 5:30 P.M. PRIOR TO THE HOME FOOTBALL GAME.    BOB GAVIN IS AGAIN
IN CHARGE AND IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS, CALL HIM AT THE

OBIE'S RESTAURANT WILL RE-OPEN SOON.
A NEW SANDWICH SHOP IS GOING TO OPEN DOWNTOWN.
AND THEY ARE WORKING ON COSTELLO'S OLD MILL AND IT WILL
RE-OPEN.
McDONALD'S IN MAQUOKETA IS BEING RE-DONE COMPLETELY....INSIDE
AND OUT.  WORK HAS STARTED.   I'VE SEEN PHOTOS....WOW!  
WILL SEAT A FEW MORE TOO.    JOB IS SCHEDULED TO BE FINISHED
IN NOVEMBER.
