IN SPORTS.....THE WAMAC CONFERENCE WRESTLING MEET WAS HELD SATURDAY IN DEWITT, WITH ALL 16 SCHOOLS FIELDING TEAMS. WEST DELAWARE, MANCHESTER, WON IT. MAQUOKETA FINISHED 14TH.
THE CARDINAL WRESTLERS NEXT WILL PARTICIPATE IN THE CLASS 2-A SECTIONAL MEET AT NOON THIS SATURDAY, AGAIN AT DEWITT.
THE MAQUOKETA FIREMEN WERE CALLED TO TWO MINOR STOVE FIRES
OVER THE WEEKEND. TO THE BETTY STREETS MOBILE HOME AND TO AN APARTMENT IN THE HURST HOTEL. IN BOTH CASES, JUST SMOKE, NO FIRE AND
FIREMEN WERE AT THE SCENE JUST A FEW MINUTES.
THE 40TH RAGBRAI BIKE EVENT THIS YEAR WILL START AT SIOUX CENTER,
AND BEFORE OVERNIGHTING IN ANAMOSA WIILL END IN CLINTON.

SPENCER NELSON, AGE 15, OF JOHNSTON AND FORMERLY OF MAQUOKETA,
DIED SUNDAY. HE WAS A SOPHOMORE AT JOHNSTON HIGH SCHOOL AND IS SURVIVED BY HIS PARENTS ARE CURT AND
TAMMY NELSON, FORMERLY OF MAQUOKETA. HE IS ALSO SURVIVED BY AN
OLDER BROTHER, JONATHAN AND AN OLDER SISTER, SARA NELSON , A TEACHER AND COACH HERE IN MAQUOKETA. SERVICES ARE PENDING
AT THE WESTOVER FUNERAL HOME IN DES MOINES.
AND...SANDRA K. ROCKWELL, 57, FORMERLY OF CASCADE AND MAQUOKETA, DIED YESTERDAY MORNING AT HER HOME IN DECORAH. VISITATION WILL
BE WEDNESDAY AT THE FJELSTUL FUNERAL HOME IN DECORAH.
THE FUNERAL WILL BE AT 10:30 FRIDAY MORNING AT THE CATHOLIC
CHURCH IN CASCADE. BURIAL IN THE CALVARY CEMETERY AT CASCADE.
OTHER INFORMATION WAS NOT SUPPLIED BY THE FUNERAL HOME, INCLUDING
SURVIVORS. OVER THE YEARS, WE HAVE HAD TWO SANDRA ROCKWELLS
LIVE IN MAQUOKETA AREA. SANDRA K. ROCKWELL WAS NOT THE DAUGHTER
